Registered Charity No. 1171227

Registered on 20[th] January 2017 as CIO (Charity Incorporated Organisation) Association.

Trustees: , Peter Graham, Jem Trehern, John Beavis, Malcolm Bigg, Ken Betts, Paul Day

Aims and Objectives:

1. The advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with our Basis of Faith, primarily but not exclusively within Brentwood and the surrounding neighbourhood.

2. Such other charitable purposes as shall, in the opinion of the members of the church in General Meetings and the Trustees, put into practice the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ in accordance with our Basis of Faith.

3. Provided that the advancement of such purposes must be undertaken in a manner that is consistent with the doctrinal distinctives and ethical statements as may be adopted and amended by the church from time to time in accordance with the provisions of the church rules.

The Doddinghurst Road Trust operates under the guidance of its Constitution and Church Handbook issued in 2017 and as amended from time to time.

Activities in 2021-22

1. Using due diligence, we have complied with Section 4 of the 2006 Act with regard to Public Benefit

2. The church continues with a Sunday Service of Praise and Worship and study including Sunday School and Youth Group albeit our arrangements including other activities both in and outside the church. They are subject to current Government instructions with regard to Covid 19.

3. There are a number of Care Groups within the church which meet at various times and locations during the week.

4. There are mid-week meetings for prayer, worship and bible study. These are mostly on-line at present.

5. The church, as necessary, has run a number of education courses.

6. We have yet to restart our café on Wednesdays which will be open to the public.

7. We also run Food Bank as permitted by the Government with help counters for drugs, alcohol and prayer. We are looking for new premises. On the 31[st] March 2022 we took over control of Food Bank in Brentwood and have set up Accounts for this purpose. See finance report for details.

8. We operate a Men’s Shed and Children’s clubs all subject to Government restrictions.

9. We continue to develop our Web Site with particular reference to continued communication and help in the period of Covid 19.

10. Maintaining the Financial stability of the church in these difficult times.

11. The Church Council and the Trustees continue to meet on a regular basis albeit some of these were Zoom meetings.

12. Jem Trehern resigned as Pastor on 31[st] August 2021 but remains a Trustee.

13. Peter Graham was inducted as Pastor in September 2021.

14. Paul Day appointed Church Treasurer to succeed John Beavis.

15. There were minor revisions to our Constitution to give us more flexibility in the appointment of trustees. This enabled us to appoint Paul Day as Trustee and Treasurer and retain Jem Trehern as a Trustee.

16. We appointed a full time employee, Aaron Watts as our Youth & Community Pastor, in January 2022 to improve our outreach to youth in the area.

All the above are in line with our aims and objectives.

Plans for the current year

1. A continuance of all the above with a fluidity of all meetings as the Covid 19 and Government regulations relax and will allow

2. We will pay particular attention to our finances as income will recover in this period and there is a need for repairs in both the church and the Manse.

3. We recognise the need for outreach in our youth work and to develop and encourage children’s outreach. Funds will be made available for this and for the fulltime worker in this field. Aaron Watts , who fulfils this function, will be appointed as a Deacon.

4. There are ongoing discussions with regard to Food Bank and our increased involvement.

5. It is known that Malcolm Bigg and John Beavis, both because of ill health, wish to reduce their involvement in the management of the church. The revision of the structure of both the Diaconate and Trustees will be considered.
