treatment and dignity in patient experience as a basic human right –

focussed on the following three groups:

Mobilising the public to ensure dignity in mental health is a reality:
a. Literacy (promoting knowledge about mental health).
b. Advocacy on behalf of vulnerable people and their families and carers.
1. Change the public mindset towards those with mental health
issues.
2. Encourage wider public discussion about mental health.
3. Provide dignity and hope for people affected by mental illness.
**Mental Health Professionals**
Helping mental health professionals to tackle self-stigma and promote a
dignified experience for their patients, carers, and families.
a. Connecting professionals and sharing experiences.
b. Increasing understanding of the service user experience.
c. Continuing Professional Development.
**Policy Makers**
Engaging and influencing policymakers to ensure policies protect and
promote dignity and equality of treatment for those with mental health
issues.

It defines the role of volunteers within the organisation, and how they can expect to be treated. The Lucy Rayner Foundation UK ## **Ongoing projects April 2022 – April 2023:** The World Dignity Project has a variety of projects that it is planning to advance dignity for people with lived experience of mental health, mental health workers and the general public which include: - **Research Project** Three phases of qualitative and quantitative research with 190 mental health service users in 35 countries to develop a scale for measuring dignity in mental health patient experience. - **Presentation of the results of the first two phases of research at the 2022 World Federation for Mental Health Conference.** Full research findings will be published in 2023 and used to campaign for improvements in mental health services worldwide. - **Recognition and technical support for organizations in low-income countries** Provided technical support for three organizations in low income countries led by people with mental health lived experience.
