Objectives and Activities
The primary mission of the Windlesham Community Home Trust (WCHT) is to support elderly and infirm residents in Windlesham, Surrey (GU20) by helping them maintain independent living, within the community where they have lived. To support this objective the WCHT aims to work in partnership with other local organisations supporting care in the community.
The WCHT was originally formed to establish a dedicated Community Care Home for Windlesham Residents as at the time there were no local homes, and elderly relatives faced long and difficult journeys to visit their loved ones.
The Trust recognises this is not the position any longer but will be seeking partnerships with suitable local providers for respite care, end of life care and day facilities.
The WCHT remains active in the community, retaining funds raised to support elderly and infirm residents maintain independent living. It aims to support the well-being of our beneficiaries through enhancing social contact, through housing adaptations, financial assistance and access to specialised services .
This year the WCHT has appointed new trustees, reviewed and implemented new financial security measures for the management of the Trust’s bank account and funds. The Trust has responded on an individualised case by case basis to ensure beneficiaries in need are supported, brokering access to specialist services and advice. Building on this casework, trustees have been working to develop a menu of services to be commissioned that give timely access to specialised services and support, when beneficiaries need it, to maintain independent living.
The WCHT did not incur any direct expenditure in response to any beneficiaries’ needs during the year. It does, however, have forward plans for targeting all income from retained funds for public benefit.
WCHT trustees can confirm they have regard for the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance in furthering the charity’s purpose. Specifically, through the year, the Commission’s guidance has been an important aspect in the recruitment and induction of new trustees.
