Groups of approximately 12 Young People
aged 13-21 meet weekly during term time
with two adult leaders. They undertake a
structured and challenging programme of
personal development and fundraising.
Many are motivated by the opportunity to
fund raise and travel abroad as a group of
volunteers for 10 days eg to Western
Kenya helping orphans in the Nasio Trust
schools and family homes who are even
less fortunate than themselves.On their
return the programme may continue with
support for education, employment and
ambassadorial work for YoCO.
The weekly programme includes:

Education: eg staying safe online,
the risks of alcohol and drugs, how
to work as a team and develop
personal fitness.

Developing young people’s
confidence is the key part of the
programme.

Fun activities: eg outdoor activity
weekends

Preparing for the challenge of
volunteering abroad; eg team
building residential weekends

Fund raising: each young person
has to raise money towards their
volunteering work abroad

Para 1.38 Group sessions are run and residential
trips led by volunteers. Total volunteer
hours were 3,570. This shows an uplift
from 2023 as we had 3 overseas volunteer
trips.
Other Youth Challenge Oxfordshire’s new
branding was launched. The new Youth
Challenge Oxfordshire 3 stage programme
was introduced across the groups. New
groups are being formed and demand
remains high.
