Trinity Baptist Church Tenterden
Aims and purposes
Our aim and purpose as a church is to see God's kingdom grow as families, friends and
communities are transformed by Jesus Christ.
Objectives and activities
The main objects of the charity are to promote the worship of God and the preaching of the
gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ both locally and internationally.
When planning our activities for the year we have considered the Charity Commissioner's
guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the
advancement of religion. We try to show people how to come to faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ and to live out their faith in the local community through..
Worship, prayer and Bible study,. learning about the 805pel; developing people's
knowledge of and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ;
Supporting missionary endeavour and other outreach here and overseas;
Providing pastoral support for Church members and others who are in need.
To facilitate the work it is essential we maintain the fabric of the Church building.
Achlevements and performance
It has always been the wish of the Trustees to hold services and a range of other activities
during the week, and over the course of the year, that our community find both beneticial
and spiritually fulfilling. Our Sunday morning service is family-friendly and intended to
facilitate worship in an accessible way, whereas our evening meeting is less formal and
provides more opportunity for people to participate in the time together. There is no
evening service on the second Sunday of each month as we provide opportunity for people
to engage with their friends and family. There are mid-week meetings for Bible study and
prayer, many of which are held in people's homes, which are useful means of spiritual
growth.
However, with the lockdowns and other restrictions put in place as a result of the COVID-19
epidemic, almost all our regular meetings at the church building had to be suspended. We
were able to continue many of our meetings via the internet using the Zoom video
conferencing plattorm. This extended to our Sunday morning service and our regular mid-
week meetings. In addition, various social events were also held on Zoom to allow church
members and attendees to spend time together despite the lockdowns. We look forward to
resuming our Friday Family Fun Nights, our twice monthly coffee morning for older people in
Tenterden and other events we held to reach out to local people once restrictions are lifted.
Also. due to the restrictions we also were obliged to close our Church hall to outside
organisations, including Caring All Together Across Romney Marsh {CARMI.

Trinity Baptist Church Tenterden
We resumed use of our building for a number of Sunday mornings when restrictions were
eased during the Summer, but when infection rates began increasing exponentially in Kent,
we reverted to meeting virtually via Zoom.
As part of our wish to offer pastoral care for our members and those connected to the
Church, the Elders and other helpers visited many of the sick, elderly and needy folk on a
more organi5ed basis than in previous years. Given the impact of the lockdowns on the
vulnerable people within the Church, we gave particular attention to those living alone.
Helping those in need abroad, who suffer as a result of war or natural disasters is a
demonstration of o ur f aith and appeals were made for funds to assist people in Lebanon
following the explosion in Beirut and, later in the year, our Harvest Appeal raised funds for
an old people's home in India and London City Mission. We also support a number of
missionaries in various parts of the world, including a Bible college in Kazan, Tatarstan.
In terms of membership, 2020121 was a period of stabilisation following the difficult events
of the previous year and at the end of the year our membership stood at 36 (including 3
Associate Members). We noted with sadness the passing of Gwen Honeysett, widow of the
first pastor of the Church - Bernard Honeysett.
In September 2020 the Church appointed 3 men to join the Eldership and 2 men as deacons,
and in November we agreed unanimously to amend the Constitution to allow the possibility
of proxy voting.
Financial review
Unrestricted donations were £37 900 which, together with the Gift Aid claim, meant that
our income from regular donations amounted to £46 650.
Incoming resources
from charitable activities amounted to £569, including £48 raised from hiring the hall to
outside organisations.
Costs associated with running the Church amounted to £34 583. This included grants for
missionary work totalling £13 310 and international aid of £11250. Much of the former was
sent to missionary organisations working abroad but £500 was given to the Fellowship of
Independent Churches IFI ECI to support the training of Christian workers in the UK.
Please see the accounts for further details.
Reserves pollcy
The Trustees aim to maintain a balance of unrestricted funds equivalent to 3 months
expenditure, amounting to approximately £20 000 in 2020121. This was achieved.
Volunteers
The Church relies on the support of volunteers drawn from the membership and regular
attendees to carry out many of the activities undertaken in the local area.

Trinity Baptist Church Tenterden
Safeguardlng
The Church last reviewed its safeguarding policy in September 2019. In the current year, due
to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Church has not held meetings specifically for children or
the coffee morning for seniors. As and when we are able to meet normally in our building
DBS check5, training and policy will all be reviewed.
General Data Protection Regulations
The Church's Privacy Policy was Posted on the Church website in March 2018 and all the
relevant policies were finished in 2019. These will be updated during 2021. The training of
leaders of small groups has been suspended as no groups have met physically for some time,
due to Covid 19. This should resume later this year and some training will be provided via
Zoom.
Structure, governance and management
Trinity Baptist Church was founded in 1967. On 19 July 1976 an Assignment and Declaration
of Trust was established in relation to the premises where the Church currently meets. The
trustees were named officers of the Church and the Grace Baptist Trust Corporation. At a
formally constituted meeting of members on 25 October 2012, the Church adopted a
constitution governing the charitable assets of the Church from a legal perspective in
accordance with the requirements of charity law. The trustees of this charity were the
minister of the Church, the other elders and the deacons. New rules were adopted at the
same time. In 2016117 the Church adopted a new Constitution and Handbook for the
purposes of obtaining registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The Charity
Commission confirmed the new charitable status on 9 January 2017 (Registered charity
number 11710471. The trustees of the charity were, again. the minister, the other elders
and the deacons. Since as 3 CIO the Church was able to own property, the ownership of
building and land were transferred to the CIO, thus ending the 1976 Trust deed.
As mentioned in section 3, 5 officers were appointed to form a new body of trustees
