FAO Mr G Walton

Stamford Young Daniels Borderville Sports Stadium Ryhall Road Stamford PE9 1US

11 October 2023

Dear Guy

## **Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Stamford AFC (The Young Daniels)**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the **Stamford AFC (The Young Daniels)** (the Trust) for the year ended 30 June 2023.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of the CIO you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

In carrying out my examination, I noted continued improvements in the keeping of accounting records regarding invoices/receipts for expenditure supported with a relevant purchase invoice or receipt. Trustees have improved internal controls by embedding use of a computerised accounting system which allows for the recording and uploading of invoices and receipts as expenditure evidence.

It should be noted that in July/August 2022, internal controls quickly identified theft. The volunteer in question was removed from their post and bank access withdrawn. The majority of the funds have subsequently been recovered.

Mrs Caroline Day, Director, Registered in England No. 7590785 Registered Office 48 Hambleton Road, Stamford PE9 2RY

I confirm that there are no other matters to which your attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
