TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDING 31st OCTOBER 2021
Once again, our fundraising activities during this past financial year have been severely restricted due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. Normally, a large proportion of our income is generated through Speaker Fees and our attendance at public selling events which unfortunately, we have not been able to participate in. This has meant that our main source of income has come from donations, E-bay sales and direct sales of hand made goods.
We did however manage during the year to provide further funds amounting to £1500-00 to our NGO partners for the purchase of more school uniforms, exercise books and pens. We have received many photographs of the children who received these items and who will now be able to gain access to education.
Whilst there is still a vital need for funds to continue with the supply of Solar Lights to enable children to do their homework using a clean source of energy, lack of income has prevented from being able to purchase more of these in this past year.
During this financial year we were also unable to provide funds for the Smiles Health Fund for the same reason.
Despite the difficulties we will continue to raise funds in whichever way we are able, to support the community on Ukerewe Island, knowing that our efforts will certainly make a difference in both education and health.
