Trustees’ Annual Report
Year Ended 31 January 2026
Trustees Overview
2025/26 was a year of continued delivery and organisational development for Lido Foundation. Against a backdrop of sustained demand for welfare, housing and financial support, we continued to provide trusted frontline services while investing in the organisation’s longer-term resilience. The trustees’ focus during the year was to maintain the quality and accessibility of our services, strengthen governance and organisational capacity, and position Lido for a more sustainable and diversified future.
Objectives and Activities
Lido Foundation works to promote social inclusion and reduce poverty, inequality and disadvantage, particularly among communities experiencing barriers to accessing mainstream services.
During the year, our principal activities included welfare and benefits advice, housing support, money advice and emergency relief. Our approach combines practical advice and advocacy with helping residents build the confidence and knowledge to navigate services independently.
The trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when planning and delivering the charity's activities.
Achievements and Performance
During 2025/26, Lido supported 1,141 people through our welfare and Universal Credit work.
81% successfully resolved the issue they approached us about, while 68% reported increased confidence in dealing with similar issues independently. Housing represented 49% of presenting issues and benefits 44%, while 64% of service users identified language as a significant barrier.
More than 200 cases were reopened by the DWP for reassessment, resulting in outcomes including backdated payments, additional entitlements, arrangements relating to arrears and support that helped prevent or address housing crises.
Alongside frontline delivery, we invested in strengthening the organisation behind our services. We developed our fundraising capacity, strengthened partnerships and communications, and continued improving our governance. This investment is intended to reduce reliance on individual funding streams and ensure Lido has the organisational capacity to respond to changing community needs over the longer term.
3
Community Engagement
Our work continues to be shaped by the experiences of the communities we serve. Our close relationships with residents help us understand emerging needs, barriers to accessing mainstream services and where our support can make the greatest difference. We use feedback and learning from frontline delivery to adapt our services and inform future priorities.
Financial Review
Total income for the year was £93,758, with total expenditure of £162,125.
Project activity expenditure increased significantly from £32,451 to £56,380, reflecting increased investment in charitable delivery.
The deficit primarily reflects the planned use of restricted funds brought forward from previous periods to deliver charitable activities during the year, rather than an equivalent deterioration in the charity’s unrestricted financial position.
At 31 January 2026, Lido held £171,595 in total funds, comprising £99,951 unrestricted funds and £71,644 restricted funds.
Reserves Policy
The trustees recognise the importance of maintaining sufficient unrestricted reserves to protect the charity against unexpected reductions in income and enable continuity of essential services. The trustees will continue to review the appropriate level of reserves alongside the charity's expenditure commitments, funding profile and future plans.
Structure, Governance and Management
Lido Foundation is a charitable company limited by guarantee. The trustees are responsible for the charity's strategic direction, governance and oversight, with responsibility for day-to-day management delegated to the CEO and staff team.
During the period, we continued strengthening our governance and organisational systems to ensure Lido remains effective, accountable and responsive to the communities we serve.
Principal Risks and Uncertainties
The trustees consider funding sustainability and concentration of income to be among the charity's principal strategic risks. We are responding by strengthening fundraising, developing new partnerships and diversifying our income base. Trustees also continue to oversee risks relating to service demand, staffing, safeguarding, financial management and operational capacity, ensuring appropriate policies and controls remain in place.
4
Plans for Future Periods
Our priorities for the next period are to protect and strengthen our core welfare and advice services, diversify our funding, develop new services in response to community need, strengthen governance and partnerships, and invest further in organisational sustainability. We will build on the trust Lido has established within local communities while developing a broader and more resilient organisation capable of responding to emerging needs.
Independent Examiner
BK Community Accountant Ltd has been appointed as the charity’s independent examiner.
The trustees have prepared the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards, including Financial Reporting Standard 102 (FRS 102), and the Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with FRS 102 (Charities SORP (FRS 102)).
The trustees’ annual report was approved on 14[th] April 2026 and signed on behalf of the board of trustees by:

Notes to the financial statements
Year ended 31[st] January 2026
1. General Information
The Charity is a private Company Limited by Guarantee, registered in England & Wales and a registered charity in England & Wales. The address of the registered office is Office E Stebbing House, 5 Queensdale Crescent, London, W11 4TF.
2. Statement of Compliance
These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with FRS102,’ The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland’, the Statement of Recommended practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland(FRS 102) (charities SORP(FRS 102)) and the charities Act 2011.
3. Accounting policies
Incoming resources
Voluntary income and donation are included in incoming resources when they are receivable except when the donors specify that they must be used in future accounting periods or donor’s conditions have not been fulfilled, then income is deferred. The income from fundraising ventures is shown gross.
Donated services and facilities
Income from donated services and facilities is included in incoming resources at a valuation, which is an estimate of the financial cost borne by the donor where such a cost is quantifiable and measurable. No income is recognised when there is no financial cost borne by a third party.
Resources expended
Resources expended are included in the statement of financial activities on an accruals basis, inclusive of any VAT, which cannot be recovered. Expenditure, which is directly attributable to specific activities, has been included in these cost categories, where costs are attributable to more than one activity, they have been apportioned across the cost of generating funds on a basis consistent with the use of these resources.
10
Cost of generating funds includes salaries, direct expenditure and overhead costs of the staff who promote fundraising including events. Governance costs are those incurred in connection with administration of the charity and compliance with constitutional and statutory requirements.
Funds
Restricted funds are to be used for specific purpose as laid down by the donor. Expenditure, which meets these criteria, is charged to the fund together with a fair allocation of management and support costs. Unrestricted funds are donations and other incoming resources received or generated for the charitable purposes.
Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the management committee for particular purposes.
Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis, as modified by the revaluation of certain financial assets and liabilities and investment properties measured at fair value through income & expenditure.
The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the entity.
Going concern
There are no material uncertainties about the charity’s ability to continue.
Disclosure exemptions
The entity satisfies the criteria of being a qualifying entity as defined in FRS 102. As such, advantage has been taken of the following disclosure exemption: No cash flow statement has been presented for the company.
Judgements and Key Sources of Estimation Uncertainty
The preparation of the financial statements requires management to make judgements, estimates and assumptions that affect the amounts reported. These estimates and judgements are continually reviewed and are based on experience and other factors, including expectations of future events that are believed to be reasonable under the circumstances.
Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees to further any of the charity’s purpose.
11
Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the trustees for particular future project or commitment.
Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure declared by the donor or through the terms of an appeal, and fall into one of two sub- classes: restricted income funds or endowment funds.
Incoming resources
All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when entitlement has passed to the charity: it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the charity and the amount can be reliably measured. The following specific policies are applied to particular categories of income:
-
Income from donations or grants is recognised when there is evidence of entitlement to the gift, receipts is probable and its amount can be measured reliably.
-
Legacy income is recognised when receipt is probable and entitlement is established.
-
Income from donated goods is measured at the fair value of the goods unless this is impractical to measure reliably, in which case the value is derived from the cost to the donor or the estimated resale value can be reliably measured. No amounts are included for the contribution of general volunteers.
-
Income from contracts for the supply of services is recognised with the delivery of the contracted service. This is classified as unrestricted funds unless there is a contractual requirement for it to be spent on a particular purpose and returned it unspent, in which case it may be regarded as restricted.
Resources expended
Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is classified under headings of the statement of financial activities to which it relates:
-
Expenditure on raising funds includes the costs of all fundraising activities, events non-charitable trading activities and the sale of donated goods.
-
Expenditure on charitable activities includes all costs incurred by a charity in under taking activities that further its charitable aims for the benefit of its beneficiaries, including those support costs and costs relating to the governance of the charity apportioned to charitable activities.
12
- Other expenditure includes all expenditure that is neither related to raising funds for the charity nor part of its expenditure on charitable activities.
All costs are allocated to expenditure categories reflecting the use of the resource. Direct costs attributable to a single activity are allocated directly to that activity. Shared costs are apportioned between the activities they contribute to on a reasonable, justifiable and consistent basis.
Tangible Assets
All fixed assets are initially recorded at cost.
Depreciation
Depreciation is calculated so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets, less its residual value, over the useful economic life of those assets as follows: Furniture & equipment 20% reducing balance
Defined contribution plans
Contributions to defined contribution plans are recognised as an expense in the period in which the related service is provided. Prepaid contributions are recognised as an asset to the extent that the prepayment will lead to a reduction in future payments or a cash refund.
When contributions are not expected to be settled wholly within 12 months of the end of the reporting date in which the employees render the related service, the liability is measured on a discounted present value basis. The unwinding of the discount is recognised as an expense in the period in which it arises.
4. Limited by guarantee
The company is limited by guarantee without share capital. In the event of the charity being wound up, the liability in respect of the guarantee is limited to £1 per member.
5. Pensions and other post - retirement benefits
All staff has been offered a pension contribution recognised by HMRC. All staff has opted out so there are no pension assets to administer and there is no other post – retirement benefits funded by the charity.
