ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 318T DECEMBER 2024
Constitution & Ob'ects
The Charity named Alford Sports Hall Associalion is regulated by a Chanc8 to Share Agreement
(the Agreement) made belmeen Lincolnshire County Council, East Lindsey District Council {ELDC),
the Charity and Alford Town Council, which was adopted on the 27th September 1993. The Charity
was registered as a Charity on 271h January 1996 as Registered Charity No. 1052365. The Charty
has a lease agreement for use of the sports facilities in John Spendluffe Technology College (the
School).
Alford Town Council is the Custodian trustee of the Charity in the Agreement, for the Lease of the
premises. The Agreement r8quires the School and the Charity to associate together and share the
Sports Hall.
The objects of the Charity are definad in the Constitutlon for the Charlty, dated 27 September 1993,
as:
"2. (a) to promote the bcnefit of the inhabitants of Alford and the
neighbourhood without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race
OT of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together
the said inhabitants and the local authorities, voluntary and other
organisations in a common effort to advance educalion and to
provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation
and leisure-time occupation with the object of irnproving the
conditions of lifc for the said inhabitants"
2. (l)) lo establish, or procure th¢ establAshment of a Sports Hall and to
maintain and manage same in furtherance of these objects."
In 2016 The trustees resolved to reconstitute the Charity to fomi a Charitable Incorporated
Organisation (CIO) which was duly registered with the Charity Commission on Ihe 19 December
2016 under Registered Charity number 1170819. The objects of the CIO being largely the same
as the Charity and defined as:
1) TO PROMOTE THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF ALFORD AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
IHEREINAFATER CALLED "THE AREA OF BENEFif) WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL
ORIENTATION RACE OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS, BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER
THE SAID INHABITANTS AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN
A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTEREST OF
SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE-TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE OBJECT OF
IMPROVING
THE
CONDITIONS
OF
LIFE
FOR
THE
SAID
INHABITANTS.
2) TO SECURE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SPORTS HALL AND TO MAINTAIN AND MANAGE THE SAME
(WHETHER ALONE OR IN CO-OPERATION WITH ANY LOCAL AUTHORITY OR OTHER PERSON OR BODY)

Since the Charity's 2013 Annual Report to its Trustees, additional annual reporting requirements
have been specified by the Charity Commission, as follows:
1. The Charity provides public benefrt for sports, physical recreation facilities and events and
Coaching to the community of AIFord and its local hinterland in East Lindsey District of
Lincolnshire.
2. The Charity has no contracts with any government body. It has had a Service Level Agreement
(SLA) wilh ELDC which ceased on the 31 December 2014. It ceased when ELDC transferred
its functions relevant to the Charity to the new Magna Vitse Trust for Leisure and Culture (MV)
on 1st January 2015. The Charity are continuing discussions in relation to the agreed SLA
3. The Trustees for the Charity confirm they have complled wlth the duty to have regard to guidance
publlshed by the Charity Commission.
4. The Trustees Gonfirm their agreement with the foregoing and other content of this report.

Financial
The Charlty is able to continue to provide Ils objectives to the community wh ilst it ￿ceIVeS financial
support from East Lindsey District Council and Alford Town Council, and John Spendluffe Technical
College {JSTC), which has contributed for the last two years. The support from JSTC Includes
rebates for business rates. Without this support this Charity would not be sustainable.

Treasurer's Re
The Charity's finances In 2023 was zero.
The Charity expenses are primarily Insurance £828, payroll expenses which have ceased until a
new appolntment is made and telecoms. The cumulative total of which are in excess of income
received and give a net deficit to the Profit and Loss account.
Future Fundin
ELDC have now fully withdrawn any funding as previously reported. The charitable status should
be utilised to look for alternativ8 funding that allows ASHA to contlnue its strategy for the
development of local servlces and the adoption of the business plan Implemented in 2019.

I report on the accounts of the Alford Sports Hall Association for the year ended 31 December
2024

As the Charity's Trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. you consider that
the audit of S43{2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state,
on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners
under S43(7)(b} of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basls of Indepondont Examlner's Report
My examination was carrled out In accordance wlth the General Directions given by the Charity
Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and
a comparison of the accounls presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any
unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as Truslees
concerning any such matters. The procedures do nol provlde all the evldence that would be required
