## **Evidence of Activities**

1. Meetings have been more sporadically held (not every month) online via messenger, or Zoom due to COVID-19/Coronavirus restrictions and also due to health issues and isolation of several trustees. Minutes are taken at the physical meetings and the online record is retained for evidence of the other meetings with key decisions noted in a separate register.

2. There were no physical meetings or social events organised or attended due to restrictions.

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

3. Support has been readily available to all and counselling has continued to be available confidentially to vulnerable members by trained team members.

4. There were no events held and a decision to not hold a PRIDE event in 2020 was made early April 2020.

5. We are actively increasing our online presence and the website interaction has increased. It was hoped that an in person event can be held in 2021 but that will be dependent on the decision of the team and in light of the restrictions that are in place at the time in 2021.

6. Any other information or detail can be provided as requested

All trustees have seen and adhered to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on Public Benefit.

## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)**

We are actively trying to raise funds and involve the whole community at each stage.

You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about:

Section D                      Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

We actively pursue grant and funding opportunities as available and relevant i.e. pitching for donations and funds locally – not successful in money terms but the group/charity is becoming more known and recognised through these efforts.

We have made excellent contacts with other local charitable organisations and groups; including Ely Soup, Speak FreELy and the Kite trust (Cambridge) and we also are linked into several other local and regional PRIDE groups (our difference being that we support orientated also).

Due to lockdown and restrictions, we have not organised any fundraising or events that could be attended in person.

We have 3 active Facebook pages, a twitter account and a website

We have a ‘SECRET’ ‘members’ online group to allow people to speak safely and comfortably without fear. There are near to 300 members in this group.

We are seeking to work more closely with other charities, schools and good causes in order to fulfil our charity objectives.

We have the full support of the councils and the local Cathedral who chose to fly the PRIDE flag from the Cathedral for the inaugural PRIDE in Ely event and lit the Octagon in rainbow colours for the 2[nd] annual Pride event.

## **Section E                    Financial review**

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

We have a Charity reserve of £500 to remain in the account at all times for case of emergency expenditure.

**Details of any funds materially in deficit**

You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about:

- the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising);

- how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity;

- investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted.

Our main funds come from donations and fundraising. We hold raffles, events which we sometimes charge a small fee to attend and collection boxes are on display at our events where allowed

The monies spent this reporting period have mainly been in the aim so far of raising awareness around diversity and inclusivity and working towards PRIDE in August 2021.

Key items purchased have been St John’s ambulance past cover deficient payment cover for the 2019 event, raffle ticket licence, printing banners and advertising for fundraising events and PRIDE alongside merchandise to sell at the event. The awareness and promotion of the group is key as we are finding new members of the community every week that were not aware that there was anything in Ely and surrounding areas for them.

We had been fortunate to receive a considerable sum from 1 key organisation as a donation this financial period.

There has been limited opportunity to fundraise or the need to spend this financial period due to COVID-19 restrictions.

## **Section F Other optional information**

## **Future Plans:**

Our aim is to continue with inclusive events and gatherings – our objective is to hold a PRIDE event at least each summer and to increase our capacity for working in support arenas with the community of Ely as a whole. This plan is yet to be formalised; but we envisage that by working closely with education, emergency services and other related/like-minded charities that we can achieve at least some of this in the next year. The next PRIDE in Ely event (August 2022) would again see a day-time, family and community orientated PRIDE celebration – which we see as a continued measure of success against this goal. All COVID-19/Coronavirus restrictions permitting.
