Review of activities
We started to get back to normal. bul it did not happen quite as quickly as we would have
Ished. Our commitment is to haN'e two or three social events during the year which, in
norn]al times, should not be too difficult to organise. Iloi¥ever: thanks to Covi(L ￿'e have
been unable to achieve our aims in this respect. j￿St to remind ).0￿ these events are not fund-
rdising events, but more lo do with "hearts and minds., To allow Friends to enjoy each
other's company aniL hopefully, to intr￿U¢e new Friepth to support our worthy cause. tn
spit¢ of no fund-raising, we do lik¢ to cover our costs and perhaps make a modest surplus.
We had planned a musical evening on July i%thich would have included an AGM. Stricdy
speaking, as a Trusl, ar¢ not obliged to hav¢ such a meeting, but we like to give Friend5
the opportunity lo bear what ￿.¢ have to sa)., and to ask any questions about what we aTe
doing. Sadly this had to be cancelle¢ but we are still keen to enjoy the Royal Males

Barbershop Quartet on some future occ&sion. The dela}'ed AGM did finally take place on
OctobeT 8th and was followed by anoth¢r very popular Wine Tasting. This was held in th¢
Riddell Hall and atlracted nearly one hundr¢d people, including quite a number of our
younger friends and supporters. It was a very happy occasion and a lovely way of helping us
to get back to norn￿1.
While this 'social' side of our activities has been disappointing. the on-going support of
Friends, by way of continuing to pay your Standing Orders, has been very impressive. T
hanks to the church making only modest requests for our financial assisLqnce. we have had a
very good year. which has allowed us to increase our reserves. This is due to the fabric of the
church being in good order: thanks to the Tegular payments we hai'c made for maintenance
over the last five years. This h&s been cOnf￿¢d recently by the regular quinquennial report
tbat is demanded by the C of E.
Building up a decent reserve fimd is particularly important. Looking after a building as old &8
St Peter's. will invariably involve major expense, so we must be ready for such an event.
Our one on-going commitment concerns the n￿lAtellance of the churchyard. During the last
twelve months, we have not only paid forthe maintenance, but also for a Substanti￿ amount
of additional work concerning the trees and hedges surrounding the churchyard. This Work
had not been carried out for many )'¢ars. Local firni Treem&gters completed this worL
together with a lot of extra work which ￿aS never included in the original quotstion. Sincere
thanks to John Darter for making thTS possible. John also decorated the laroe conifer at the
entrance to the churchyard Christmas lights and h&s donated the lights foT ￿tUre use. We
just hope he is happy to conlinue puttino them up in y.ears to come!
The work in th¢ Churcbyard would not hav¢ been p)ssible without the huge involvement of
th¢ ChUrchWarde￿ Neil Williams. Goodness knows w.hat we have saved by Neil doing all
this manual work. We are so verv grateful. I do not believe the church)'ard has looked in
better shape for many s¢aL3. Local people walk through it and others visit ielatii'es ￿h0 have
been laid to rest in the churchyard. It is the most visible part of OUT activities and I believe
creates a very good impTession of what we are trying to achieve.
Your loyalty is very much appreciated. Howeirer, we must ty and broaden the base of
Friends living within the killa8e. Please do encourage your fricnds and ncighlK>urs lo join us.
Man}, thanks.

Finally, we always lookino for younger people to help us, particularly with our social
events. So please b¢ar this in mind.
In this latter respecL we are delighted that Victoria TrnetL moved into Breech LAne
nearly two yeaTS ago. joined us &8 a Tnth during the year.

Independent examiner's report
To th¢ Trustees ofthe Friends of St Peter's Walton on tbe Hill Surrey
I report on the accounts of the Charity for the )'ear ended 31 December 2021, which are set out
on pages three and four.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and euminer
The charity's trustees are responsibl¢ for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trusiees
consider that an audit is not required for this )'ear under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011
(the Charities Act) and that an Inde￿dent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act.
to follow the procedures laid doiN'n in the oeneral Directions given b) the Charity
Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act), and
to state whether particular maiters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiller's report
My exaTninatiOTJ was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the ChaTity
Commission. An examination includ¢s a review of the accounting records kept by the charity
and a comparison of the accounts presenied ihose records. It also includes consideration of
any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the Trustees
conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would be required in an audit, and consequenily no opinion is given as to whether the accounts
present a 'true and fair, vi¢w and the retx)r( is limi￿d to those matters set out in the statement
below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to Tny attention which gives
me cause to believe that in any material respect:
accounting records were not kept in a¢cordan¢e with section 130 of the Charities Act" or
the accounts do not accord with the accounting records.
I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention
should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
