Objectlves and Artlvltles
Aims and Objectives
The purposes of the charlty are..
To support the work of educational e5tablishments-
Sign post to business support servlces and digitsl skills-based education-
Provide and a551St in the provSslon of facllltles for education in digital technology and entrepreneurship;
Physlcally and digitally connect governing bodies. fvnds charities, entrepreneurs and organisations to benefrt development
of the digital community.
The Trustees have referred to current guidance from the Charity Commission on public benefit in producing this report and
when reviewing aims and objectlves and planning future activities. In particular, the Trustees consider how planned
activities wlll contribute to the alms and objectives they have set.
The Community and Education Trust aims to give young people from every background, ability and socio-economic group
the same opportunlties to thrlve. We do this prtmarlly through communlty donatlons and educational outfftach. Some of
Greater Manchester's most in-need wards are on our doorstep in Hulme and our focu5 15 Set f irmly on nurturingi inspiring
and motivating chlldren, young people and the wlder community.
Decisions on where to concentrate our resource are centred around uftder-￿p￿$ented groups and our partnershSps are
often created with 5choo15 and communitles In under-privileged areas.
Our short-term objertlves are to support the development of young people with their basic needs and edutational
opportunltles where relevant tc help them towards equal career opportunlties now and In the future. The long-term purpose
of the Trust Is to create sustalnable resources that allow every child in our ￿910n to have an equal chance at a career of
their choice in the technologyi digital and creative sectors, through educational outreach as well as meetlng the baslc needs
of people in disadvantage.
Success Is measured by the number of people we reach, as well as by the Intreaslng number of partnershlps created esther
wlth schools, industry bodles and communrty organlsations that can add more resource to our efforts wlth young people.
Within this, we measure the number of tethnology installations we achleve withln schools, organlsatlons or youth zones and
the number of outreach appointments,
Si9nificant Artivities
The trustees made a decision to focus on providing basic nee¢Js support to young people in our local communities in this
financial year. Many of the initiatives revolve around giving disadvantaged youths the chance to find independence and gain
inspiration and educational opportunities - like The Bolton Lads and Girls Club. Our grant supported their holiday hunger
campalgn.
other projects we supported include..
Mustard Tree, based on Ancoats in Manchester and a charity operating within our local community. They work with the
homele55 across the city and our funding went specifically to young people's Initiatives. getting them back on their feet.
The Fragile X Society aims to improve the lives of those affected by Fragile X and assoclated conditions by provlding
infomation and continued support to families and professionals they work with. With young people affetted by Frdglle X in
our own community we were pleased that our funding 5UPPOrted the education of these people and their families into
understsnding the Impact of the syndrome.
The Project at St Brides Church supports failed asylum seekers who have no access to government funds and often find
themselves out on the streets. It Is also supported by the Red Cross and they support many families wlth young children,
that our funding was able to beneflt.

Financial R•vi•w
Financial Position
The charity is solely funded by a £5 million donation made in December 2018. This donation Is Intended to cover all the
charities ongoing expenses and any community donations for the foreseeable future. At present, the charlty does not
undertake fundraising activities and there are no immediate plans to do 50.
At the end of the financial year, the charity held in excess of £4.95 million split across current and savlngs accounts,
therefore the risk of the charity being unable to meet future expenses 15 very low given the small ongolng runnlng costs.
The charlty funds are held In bank accounts to mlnlmise the risk of the donatlon diminishing in value (for example if share5
were held for Investment Instead). Any alteratlons to the strurture of the holdlng of funds must be agreed in advance by at
least two trustee5.
R•s•rves Pollcy
The charlty operates a reserves policy of holding at least two years, expenses In Ilquid cash in order to ensure the charity
remains a golng concern. The reserves at the end of the financlal year are well In excess of this limit and would be able to
sustain the charSty for many years to come.
The charity currently has one part tlme employee. Flnance and admlnlstratlon Is provlded by a related third-party company
and recharged at cost.
Aslde from accountancy and audlt fees the￿ was no commltted expendlture at the end of the financlal year.
Future Plans
The Trust continue5 With its efftjrts to level the playing field for young people acr055 Greater Manchester and beyond.
through delivery of educational and basic needs support. We continue to increase our efforts with marginallsed groups and
intend to continue with similar work in 2025126.
With access to Manchester Recording Studios and skilled engineers, we continue to plan for a DJ school. that can offer
opportunltles to young members of our communlty and Involve reglonal muslc outreach agencies. These plans are ongoing.
The studlos have also recrulted a senior engineer who can support our ambltlons to offer music engineering training to
young people In the reglon.
Working with Secarma is another busine55 partnership that we are exploring and the cyber securfty company Is extendlng
its social OUt￿Ch in 2026 We are hoping that thi5 will open the door for underprivileged young people to one of the
fastest growing a￿3$ of technology employment with job opportunities experted to grow by 18% by 2029.

Management of the Trust Is led by CEO Jonathan Bowers, appolnted In May 2023 on a part time basis. He is gulded by our
trustees on fundlng declslons.

The Jones Community and Education Trust, is a tompany limited by guaranteei governed by its Memorandum and Artldes
of Association dated 20 June 2016 as amended on 11 June 2019 and 4 November 2019. It is registered as a charlty wlth
the Charlty Commission.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 30 June 2025.
Re•ponsibilities and Balis of Raport
As the charity trustees of the Company (and also Its dlrectors for the purposes of company law), you are responslble for the
P￿par￿tIon of the accounts In accordance with the requirements of the Companies Art 2006 fthe 2006 Act?.
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and
are eligible for independent examination, I report in respert of my examination of your charity's accounts a5 carried out under
sectlon 145 of the Charltles Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act.). In carrylng out my examlnation I have followed the Dlrectlons glven by
the Charlty Commlsslon under sectlon 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Art.

Since the Company's gross income exceeded £250,000 your examiner must be a member of a body listed in $ertion 145 of

The financial ststements have been prepared In accordance wlth the Charltles SORP (FRS 102) "Accounting and
Reportin9 by Charities- Statement of Recommended Prattlce appllcable to charltles preparing thelr accounts In
accordance wlth the Flnanclal Reportlng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effectlve I
January 2019)" Flnanclal Reportlng Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard appllcable In the UK and Republlc
of Ireland. and the Companles Act 2006.
The charitable company is a Public 8eneflt Entlty as defined by FRS 102.
2.2. In¢omlng Resources
All Income is recognised in the Ststement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the fund5, It is
probable that the income will be re￿IVed and the amount can be measured reliably.
2.3. Resources Expended
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or construrtive obligation committing the charity to
that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of
the obligation tan be measured rellably. Expendlture Is accounted for on an accruals basls and has been dasslfled
under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attrlbuted to partlcular
headings they have been allocated to actlvltles on a basts conslstent wlth the use of resources.
2.4. Taxation
The charity is exempt from ¢orpovation tax on its charitsble artivities.
2.5. Fund ae¢ountlng
Unrestrirted funds can be used In accordance wlth the ¢harltsble objertlves at the dls¢retlon of the trustees,
Restricted funds ¢an only be used for particular restrlcted purposes wlthSn the objects of the charlty. Restrlctlons arlse
when specified by the donor or when funds are ralsed for partlcular restrlcted purposes.
