**Objects:** THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE :• TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF NORTH YORKSHIRE, WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID RESIDENTS AND THE STATUTORY AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE RESIDENTS.• TO ESTABLISH OR SECURE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A LIBRARY AND COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE, AND TO MAINTAIN OR MANAGE OR COOPERATE WITH ANY AUTHORITY IN THE MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF SUCH A CENTRE FOR ACTIVITIES PROMOTED BY THE CHARITY IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS OBJECTS.

**Activities:** The activities of the Community Library provide a service which involves the loan of books and other media such as audio books and films on DVD etc. These activities foster and encourage the appreciation of books, literature and associated matters for the whole community.
