running 1) the annual Pilton
Green Man Day in July, 2)

member of each Sub-commrttee. An additional trustee with specific
responsibility for Manning's Pit was appointed in January 2022.

After a gap of one year due to the Covid19 pandemic, Pilton Theatre
Productions suc￿SsfUllY put on the pantomime 'Red Riding Hood, in
February 2022. For the first lime since 2019, Pilton Green Man Day
Su￿ssfUllY went ahead in July 2022.
The three operating sutFcommrttees carry out risk assessments of their
operations and also prepare detailed event management plans as
appropriate. A H&S policy and related procedures were developed in
relation to the management of the Manning's Pit land and are being
reviewed annually.

To promote good ctiizenship for the public benefrt by facililating the
development of a volunteer force to assist the cotnmunity. in particular
but not exclusively those members of the communrty who are in need, in
such ways as the trugtees may from time lo lime decide. To advance
such charitable purposes (according to the law of England and Wales) as
the trustees see frt, in particular, but not limited to, the promotion of the
arts and advan￿ment of education in the history of Pilton, primarily but
not exclusively, for the benefit of the people of the Pilton ward of

The trustees usually rneet four times a year to ensure that the
organisation of the Pilton Green Man Day, the Pilton Panto, and the
Friends of Manning's Pit are satisfactory and to consider applications for
awards and the completion reports from projects to which awards have
been made.
We confirm that the trustees have had regard to the Charity
Commission's guidance on public benefil.
Additional details of objectives and activities {Optional infomiation)
The charitable objectives are met by making small grants available to
communty organisations, charities, groups and individuals to carry out
projects which wll benefit the people of Pilton. The geographical area of
Pif(on covers the area approximately from the ND District Hospital to
Pottinglon and from Bradiford to Raleigh and Yeo Vale and there is
resident population of around 5.000.

In June 2021 the CIO purchased for the community about 18 acres of
land known locally as Manning's Pit. In connection with this the CIO is
also registered with HMRC to enable the collection of Gift Aid on monies
donated.

achievements of the charity
during the year
Bradif(>rd Pocket Garden
In October 2021 an award of £400 was made to the 'Bradiford and Pilton in
Bloom, sub-committee of the 'Bamstaple in Bloom, organisation to make
improvements to a lapsed. communty garden area in Bradiford. The project
has added planters and raised beds, shnjbs, perennials and he￿S and
repla￿ment of chippings with a lawn. This has created a pleasant, calm area
for use by the communtty and has generated enough interest to fund all the
wotk carried out so far. The volunteer team is preparing revised details to
submtt a request for the funds in eady 2023.
Pilton Bluecoal Academy- Voice in a Million Concert
An award of £500 was made to the Pilton Bluecoat Academy to help fund a trip
by the school choir to attend the 'vol￿ in a Million, concert at Wembley Arena
on 15m March 2023. The concert 15 held once a year and aims lo promote
school singing events, wilh an under-pinning message that taise5 awareness
of the plight of children in care and the importance of Adoption and Fostering.
The choiLof 36 children will join a choir of 5,000 to 6,000 school children lo will
perfom a concert together in the Arena.
Community Environmental Eduthilional Thernpy CIC ICEETI
An award of £1000 was made in September lo CEET CIC to provide
opportunity"es, mosuy volunteering, for young peop5e and adults to take p8it in
acb"vib"es which support the environment, the communty and their mental
heatth. These include acb"vib"es like lffter picking, beach cleans, paddle
boarding, leaming how to grow vegetables on an allotment for elderly members
of the communty, help with footpath restoration, help wrth local animal and
wildlife Surveys. woodland conservation, and mar5y more. The funding has
helped with transport and bus fares. The project was under the supervision of
Sarah Jellard of the CEEt CIC based in Braunton but involving signifieanl
numbers of Pilton people.
PiltoTr Bluecoat A¢ademy- Raised Bed Restoration
An award of £348 was made to Bluecoat Academy to fund the start up of a
project to restore the use of exisb.ng raised beds in the school courtyard which
started in November. The project will also create a small paved area in one
comer of the courtyard into which log seating from an unused forest gazebo
would be placed to encourage all the children in the school to access it. The
funding covered the provision of a small greenhouse for preparing plants for
the raised beds under the supervision of Simon Hemon, a volunteer from the
Pitton cornmun"ty.

During 2022, the CIO made a net profit of £1,762. Proceeds from holding
the Pilton Green Man Day {£4,2221 and the Pilton Panto (£387) being
partly offsel by £2,848 handed out in Grants.
Expenditure on the management of Manning's Pit was £890 in 2022, land
income- primarily from Grazing fees- was £1,019 leaving £4,275 in the
separate Manning's Pit account for expenses for future specific uses.
At 315t December 2022 the Pilton Green Man CIO had a bank balance of
£19,005. It also owns Manning's Pit, estimated value £200,000
