## **WALKABOUT FLINTSHIRE ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2024** 

Welcome everyone to the  Annual General Meeting of Walkabout Flintshire.  As a registered charity the Trustee’s report our activities and financial position to the members and the Charity Commission.  As you will know the aim of Walkabout Flintshire is to provide free volunteer led walks and Nordic walking in location throughout the county. 

Firstly we are happy to say that last year we held 498  walks with 7374 walkers attending and we welcomed 73 new walkers. The number of walkers participating in the walks are very similar year on year. 

All our walks are totally dependent on our dedicated team of walk leaders and back leaders and without them none of our walks could take place.  Walkers can choose not to come along if the weather is bad but our leaders are always there for you. You may not be aware but some even arrange their holidays so as not to clash with their responsibilities.  Every year we take this opportunity to say a very special thank you to the most important members of Walkabout Flintshire namely our walk leaders and back up walk leaders who ensure that the walk run smoothly.  I am sure you will agree that the opportunity to enjoy shared physical activity, having a chat, making new 



friends is an excellent way  to ensure good physical and mental well-being.

Our aim as always to offer a range of walks throughout Flintshire, unfortunately we have been unable to find walk leaders to restart two vacant walks. 

During the summer months additional extra special walks and out of town walks are held and these as in previous years have proven very popular. 

The Trustee’s have looked at various ways to promote our activities and  it was agreed by the Trustee’s to produce branded business cards for walk leaders so that if any one showed an interest in joining then they could pass on a card 



with our contact details.  The walk programme has been updated to reflect changes in walk grades etc.  We also have flyers and posters which can be provided on request. 

In September a thank you walk for walk leaders was held Greenfield Valley followed by refreshments in the visitors centre.   This will now be a bi- annual event. 

The Trustee’s hold two meeting annually to discuss the running of the organisation and this year a walk leader expressed an interest in becoming a Trustee. We very much welcome  their contribution to the committee.  We now have vacancies on the committee so if you or any body you know who is interested in contributing to the sustainability of Walkabout Flintshire, please have a word with one of the Committee.  As said previously in order to keep our Charity continuing we will be needing new and younger people coming forward to take ownership of our existing walks in the future and develop new groups.
