2022 Walkabout Flintshire Annual Update
Thankfully 2022 was a year when Walkabout Flintshire was able to once again resume walks to the same level as pre Covid times. Sadly due to lack of numbers it was decided to discontinue the Monday evening Bagillt walk. We would like to especially thank John and Vicky Thomas for their support in leading these walks over the past years.
Positively other weekly walks are still continuing in Mold (Monday and Tuesday), Flint, Halkyn, Caerwys, Holywell, Shotton, Penyffordd, Llanasa and Caerwys with additional special walks undertaken and also Nordic Walking in Greenfield. Regular summer only walks are held in Lixwm and Carmel.
In 2022 Walkabout Flintshire led 597 walks, with 7963 walkers taking part and we welcomed 141 new walkers. Walkabout Flintshire also held special out of town walks, including walks around Chester, Sychdyn, Gwernymynydd, Hope and Caergwrle, Greenfield Valley and the monthly Mold out of town walks. The out of town walks have proved very popular. -
We would like to say a special thank you to the most important members of Walkabout Flintshire, all the walk leaders and back up leaders who turn out in all weathers to ensure that walks take please allowing us all to enjoy shared physical activity as well as benefiting everyones good mental health.
You may already be aware that Doctor’s are prescribing walking as a well-being activity and social prescribing is becoming more widespread.
2023 is a special year for Walkabout Flintshire and by the time we are holding out A.G.M. we will have already celebrated our 20[th] Anniversary with a walk in Wepre Park.

The Trustees made a decision to reduce the number of Trustee meetings from 4 to 2 a year, so now they are being held in May and November, so if you know of anyone who maybe interested in helping shape the future of Walkabout Flintshire please ask them to get in touch.
Our aim is to continue growing our Charity but for this we need new and ‘younger’ people coming forward who are willing to take ownership of our existing walks in the future and develop new walking groups.
I would like to thank you all for coming today, and hope that in 12 months time I am able to give you positive news moving forward.
