## **Nepalese British Community UK (NBC-UK)** ESTD-2010 


## **- YEARLY EVENTS AND PROGRAMS 2021 2022** 

## **1. Food Bank Support in the UK** 

As COVID-19 pandemic has affected so many families in most of the countries in the world, we have heard from our local news that there were very low stock in the local council food banks to support the poorest in the UK. NBC-UK Executive Committee meeting had decided to support the food banks where our Executive Member(s) resides. So, we contacted our own local council and provided the food that are required. Executive committee members who reside in those council has taken the responsibility to contact, purchase and supply the items. 50% of the cost was re-imbursed by NBC-UK and 50% of the cost was paid by between the Executive Members in each council. 

NBC-UK were successfully able to support below councils. 

- Harrow Council

## **2. Covid -19 Support in Nepal** 

Nepalese British Community UK (NBC-UK) has been supporting regularly to the victims of natural disasters in the past. In August 2021, NBC-UK have decided to support the Covid -19 victims in Nepal via local organisations. Donation made to local charity organisations in Nepal, namely “100’s Group” and “Hamro Team Nepal” to support needy people in Nepal who had been badly affected by Covid-19. NRs 2,75,000 was donated to 100’s Group and NRs 2,75,000 was donated to Hamro Team Nepal, two local charity organisations in Nepal who had been actively working in helping Covid-19 affected people. 

## **3. Weekly Yoga sessions** 

Yoga classes, virtually on Zoom for everyone, free of cost organised to support community during the pandemic. NBC-UK aim to promote healthy and active lifestyle in the community. The Yoga and physical fitness is running twice a week, Saturday and Sunday morning. 

## **4. Zumba Health & Wellbeing** 

NBC-UK galvanised together and discussed in considerable lengths about alleviating the impact of COVID-19 in our community. As a result, NBC-UK agreed to continue Zumba and Fitness session and instantly coordinated an hour-long program twice a week which was started in January 2021. The motive of the program was to uplift our members health and well-being during the pandemic.

## **5. NBC-UK Quarterly Bulletin** 

NBC-UK came up with the idea to publish its quarterly bulletin. This is to give brief activities information to its members in summary, about what our organisation is doing with their support, etc 

## **6. Blood Donation** 

To support NHS Blood Bank to save lives, NBC-UK is involved to donate blood twice in a year. Executive Committee and members have been actively involved and donated blood to NHS. 

## **7. Big Lottery Funds** 

NBC-UK received the funding amount of £9,910 from the Big Lottery Charity Funding. The amount was spent to deliver 70 units electronics devices (Tablets) to the elderly/needy people and educate and interact with them for use of the devices securely. This is to help elderly/needy people to get connected with internet, interact with their beloved family and friends and to come out from the isolation while the nation was suffering from covid-19. 

## **8. Dashain event celebration** 

The event was celebrated on 9th October 2021 at Aroma Lounge, North Wembley. NBC-UK honoured past co-ordinator Mr Milan Ghimire for his invaluable contributions to the NBC-UK in past three years. Also, all students from NBC-UK members family, who have successfully completed GCSE and A-Level in 2020 and 2021 were congratulated as well as honoured for their great achievements. NBCUK wished them good luck and success for future career. 

## **9. AGM – 6th March 2022** 

NBC-UK held its AGM and Establishment Day on 6th March 2022. All members were invited and presented with annual plus financial reports. 

## **Note: Due to COVID-19 and some technical issues, following yearly events were on hold.**
