The Trustees of the London Welsh Male Voice Choir present their annual ￿p)rt for the year ended 31
DecembeT 2023 under the Charities Act 2011, tO8ether w¥th the independently examined atcount5 for the
year, and confirm that the latter compfy with the requirements of the Art. Constitution and in accordance
with the Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in actordance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS1021-
I. OBJEcnvES AND AcrivmES
Charitable Objects
The Objects of the Choir are to benefit the publie in such charitsble manner as the Charity Trustees in their
absolute discretion shall determirEe, and in particular bv:
l. Advancing the education of the public through the promotion and perfom)ance of Choral Musb
particularly, but not exclusively, by perfomiing works composed and lor written by those of Welsh origin
and lor in the Welsh lan8ua8e.
2. Advancing publit knowledge and understandlng of the heritage and tradltion of Wekh Male Voice choral
singing in particular, but not Èxclusively. by perfomiing in those places vthere familiarity and understanding
of such Music is less prevalent.
3. Supporting and assistin& for the public benefft. other such charitsble organisations in the advancement
of their own objects in such ways as the trustees shall from time to time determine.
4. Providing a diverse community of supportive and likeminded indNiduals to promote mental and physical
wellbein8 through Singing and the development of individual musi(al capabilities and competencie5
Attivities
During 2023, the choir performed in its Red Jackets on 20 occasions, 11 of which were public concerts.
The choir picked up strongly after the pandemic and was able to pursue its active policy of developing
productive links with several charittes enabling us to undertake concerts in both major (including
two cathedralsl and smaller venues across the country. To delwer against its objectNes. the choir
requires a healthy. sustainable singing group. In 2023, the average number of members remained at 80+,
wtth an average COn￿rt attendance of 60 choristers.
In a typical concert 51N of the item5 are of Welsh origin, with a mlnimum of 33% in the Welsh languase.
The Choir is always looking to encourage people to take up choral singing and to enjoy the repertoire that
the Choir performs in rehearsals 3nd corscerts. During the year we recruited over 20 new members. as part
of our continuing drNe to attrart a new generdtion of choristers.

2. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
We perfomied. over the course of 2023, to"li¥e- audiences totsllin8 over S.0￿, supporting 5 different
charittes I good causes and helping them to raise in ￿55 of £40.(KK).
The Trustees feel the concerts hel(1 during the year continued to be SUC￿$sfUl givin8 a Chance for
promotifig Welsh Works. Wèlsh culture and Male Voice choral muslc to be performed to thè wider
communitv.
In shaplng the objectives and supportin8 activrties for the year the Trustees have considered the Charity
Commission's guidance on public benefit. The artivtties h05ted by or facilitated via the Choir have been
accessible to all and have been broad ranging in terms of repertoire and content. We work with charities
in preparing for our toncerts to help maximise publK interest and in turn help to 8enerdte income for
those charities.
Public access to the choir is very important and our rehearsals continue to be open lat no costl to the
public and several people from the local community also stt in on these rehearsals during the year. In
ad(lition, we welcome and ￿Ceive visits from people from further afield. including visitors who are
horisters with various choirs across the world- as ewdenced by the many entries in our Visitors. Book.
Friends of the Choir gave generously of their time to support the Choirfs culturnl and fundraising
activities to the extent of more than 31X) hours of voluntary service durin8 the year and the Trustees
wish to say how much their valuable work is appreciated. The membership scheme cal￿d "Friends ot
the choi￿ is going from strength to strength. wtth its own websrte area linked to the Choirfs website and
the provision of regular"Newsletters" to~Friend5" Via this websrte link.
3. HNANCIAL REVIEW
2023 was an att￿e year. with the Choir undertaking on average one public engagement per month.
Over the year, there was a net movement lincreasel in unrestricted funds by year end 2023 of £7,053.
Subscriptions and Donations income totslled £9.895. Income from product sales in 2023 was £1,549.
Our stock level is estimated at £1,2￿.
In 2019, the Choir receNed a bequest of £30.Cth which is hekl a5 restrirted funds. With interest, as at
end of 2023 this fund stands at £17,201. In 2023. £8,337 of the bequest was used to supwrt the choirfs
charitable objettives.
The finan¢ial statements set out herein have been prepared from Xero Softwa￿ records maintained by
the Choirfs Finance team.
Reserves Poli(y
The trustees review the choirfs requirernents for reserves in accordance with the main risks to the
organisatson. It has established a policy of maintaining reserves of £50,(M)O which are tonsidered
SLrfficient to meet the choirfs working capital requirements to cover expenditure for a period of i year.
4. SrRU￿uftE, fjOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing Document
The Choir was first registered a Charty on Istjuly 1971. As an unincorporated association under the

1968 rule5 that were applicable at the time there was no requirement for a Trust Deed as the Charity 15
governed by its constitution and rule5 which were amended in 1989. February 21J)8. December 2009 and
December 2014. At the end of 2016, the Choir converted to a Charttable Incorporated Organlsation.

The structure of the Charitycomprises of a Managing Commrttee of the111)Trustees plus ctropted members.
Appointmeftt ond fmlning OA T￿￿ee$
The Trustees are elerted by the Choir at Its Annual General Meeting IAGMI for a 12-month period or by the
Choir at an Extraordinary General Meeting IEGMI for the period from the date of the EGM until the date of
the next AGM. Nominations are submÉtted to the Choir Secretary in accordance with the Choir Constrcution.
It is the policy of the Choir to appoint Trustees who are mature indNiduals with considerable experience in
fields such as Administration. Education. Finance, Marketing and Human Resources gained by holding
responsible positions outside the Choir. It is Consequent￿ not necessary forthem to have extensive training
apart from ensuring they are up to date with any new developments in the field of Charity Administration.
Orgtynlsotional Monogement
The Trustees are legally responsible for the overall management ¢)f the Choir and meet as the Mana8in
Committee normally once a month with the QFOPted members in attendance rf required but not entltled to
vote. The Trustees meet on an "as required" basis to deal with SLrch matters as the Approval of A¢￿￿nts and
the remuneration of professional
The work of implementing the policies agreed by the Managing Committee is delegated to the members of
the Managing Committee and to nominated Sub<ommittees. Each sUt￿cOmm[ttee Chaimian on request
submits a reportlminutes of meetsngs to the Managing Commlttee fortheir consideration and approyal.
Risk Management
The Trustees are responsible for the management of risks faced by the Choir. Detailed consideration of the
risks is dele8ated to the members of the Managing Committee and Chairmen of the Sub-committees who
are assisted by Committee or Choir member5 With expertise in particular fields. Identification. monitoring
and recommended mitigation measures are embodied in the monthty reports submitted to the Mana8ing
Committee. Discussions take place with the Insurance Brokers spelling out risks and an Insurance Policy
arrangèd to ensure rtsks are covered. In addition, an independent Financial Risk Oversight Working Group is
in place to review any major project Icurrently where potential expendtture 1$ greater than £IO,IM)- If￿￿re
kept under review)).

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's
trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under SeCt￿n 144 of the Charities
Act 2011 {the Charitses Act) and that an independent examinats'on is need￿1.
