Human Centre have contributed to the public benefst".
The Vivekananda Human Centre promotes the philosophy of
Ramakrishna-vivekananda of Human Excellence, Unity in Diversty,
Universal Tolerance, Harmony and Peace. 11 stages events through the
course of the year to foster understanding be￿een people from diverse
backgrounds - regardless of age, belief. gender or sexualrty. Events
include an annual "Festival of Unrty and Diversity" which brings together
peop￿ of different religions to celebrate equalty and diversity
The Vivekananda Human Centre benefits the general public by foslering
a greater understanding and respect of diversity in British society. This is
considered more imtxirtanl now than ever due lo the rise of intolerance,
and as such there is a need for an otganisation to counter that through
promotion of equality and diversity. and religious harmny, in particular
that philosophy as developed by Swami Vivekananda.
In addition. the charity has responded lo Ihe identified need - and
request from the trustees, volunteers, members and supporters of the
charity- lo address hardship and nutritional support for people living in
povety as well as provide educational support for vulnerable and
marginalised young people in both the local communities where the
charity conducts activrties in the UK, as well as overseas, particularly
India. Bangladesh and Nepal.

Many people volunteered lo supwrt the orgarsisalion. as well as
participating in the events, over the course of the year. Many young
I people participated in the music, reading and dance activities in the
| evenl, as well as helping with the distribution of food, dothes and
educational support materials. This has helped lo build their confidence,
a5 well as knowledge and understanding of interfaith work, the
importance of diversity and respect for other peoples.

Also, a number of older people also aclivety volunteered to help in Ihe
Ofganisalion of events. Meditation and prayers are led by such volunteers
which supports the mental heatth of participants.
As the Wivekananda Human Centre does not have any slaff, the
contribution of volunteers play a vital role lo enable the organisation to
conduct its activities.

Achievements and performance
We celebrated Swami Vivekananda's Birthday on 12 January 2023_ We
continued to distribute food in the UK through the Vivekananda Food
Bank in 2023, and distfibuted food, clothes and educational support
materials & Vivekananda scholarships in India, Bangladesh and Nepal.
as we did last year, to mark the occasion of Swamiii's birthday in January
2023, Durga Pula and Dwali in October and November 2023
In March 2023, we organised a Birthday Celebration of Sri Ramakrishna
which also marked the Holi Festival at Scout Hall in South Woodford. The
event included addresses from an array of honoured guests including
Councillor Thavathuray Jeyaranjan, Mayor of Redbridge. Mr Sanjay
Kumar of the High Commission of India, London, The Rl. Hon Sir lain
Duncan Smith MP and Revered Swami Sarvasthananda, President of
Ramakrishna Vedanta Cenlre. UK. As well as recitations. readings and
music.

during the year
In August 2023, we participaled in the cuttural programme, and
distributed thousands of Swamiji's books, lo mark the occasion of the
Independen￿ Day of India.
In November 2023, we organised an event to mark Diwali and The
Birthday CelebralK>n of Holy Mother al Scout Hall in South Woodford.
The event included addresses from an array of hongured guests
including The Rt. Hon Sir lain Duncan Smith MP, Mr Virendra Sharma
MP, Councillor Jyolsna Islam. Mayor of Redbridge and Revered Swami
Sarvasthananda, Minister-in-charge of the Ramakrishna Vedanta
Centre, UK. As well as recitations, readings and music_
We have attended many interfaith events and delivered Swamiji's
Universal Tolerance, Unity in Diversity, Hamiony, and Peace messages
from VNekananda Human Centre during Holocaust MerrK)rial Day in
January 2023 and UK Interfaith Week in November 2023.
We maintain a website at htt s..1￿.VIVekana￿daCenIre.cOM on which
we feature all events and information al)out the work of the charity.
