This report summarises the activity of Westcott Sports Club, Charity Number: 1170705, for the period 1 May 2023 to 30 April 2024.

Adverts have been placed in the Westcott Village Magazine to seek to recruit additional Trustees. An application form has been created and provided to two potential new Trustees during the year, although neither have submitted it.
The Trustees met on four occasions during the year to consider the business of the charity.
Highlights of the Year
There have been three main areas progressed during the year.

A) The financial governance arrangements have been reviewed including transferring the banking relationship to Co-Operative Bank on a fee free basis account. In addition, revised processes for lease payments, invoicing, insurance and managing utility suppliers have been adopted and an updated Licence to Occupy agreement has been agreed with the two main users of the Sports Club premises, Westcott 1935 Football Club and Westcott Cricket Club.

B) Premises improvements have been numerous. Through donations in kind, the kitchen area has been renovated. The redundant dilapidated portacabin behind the main clubhouse has been removed to improve the safety of the premises. Scrap metal and other waste that had accumulated over several years has been taken away. Picture framing has been completed and a trophy cabinet erected. Several other minor improvements and maintenance tasks have been undertaken.

C) Trustees have pursued a range of income generation initiatives including a successful Just Giving page, the compatible hiring of the premises for sessions run by a local dog training company and a renewed focus on fixed sponsorship boards advertising local companies, as well as one off hire events.
In addition, Westcott Cricket Club has sourced and installed a defibrillator.
Grant applications for the redevelopment of the showers and conveniences have been submitted.
Financial Report
On a substantially increased operating turnover of almost £12,000, a small surplus has been generated to begin to offset the net loss from the prior year when significant premises improvements were delivered in excess of associated grant income.
