## **Report of Trustees**

October 2019 – September 2020

Supported by

## **Membership**

For the 2020 season the club asked all members to pay their membership fees even when it became apparent that the playing season would be cancelled due to Covid 19 restrictions. In all 17 players paid along with 9 social members.

## **League, Representative Matches and Competitions**

Due to Covid19 restrictions no matches were played.

However, prior to the cancellation of the leagues, the club was informed that it was to retain its place in the First Division of the Neath League.

## **The Green and Pavilion**

Even though all matches were cancelled the maintenance work on the Green had to continue. The Trustees agreed to enter into a contract with Absolute Grasscare who carried out work on the Green, provided materials and consulted with the Green Committee.

Under the direction of Absolute Grasscare the club took responsibility for cutting, verticutting, spiking and the application of Compost Tea.

During the spring and summer members carried out a number of works.

a) The hedge adjacent to the tennis court was cut back creating more space to walk along the side. b) The replacement of boards along the remaining 3 sides of the ditch was carried out. c) A concrete slab was made and 3000 litre water tank was installed.

d) The guttering along the back of the pavilion was adjust so the that rainwater could flow to the water tank. Special thanks go to Mr. Peter Cochoran who did most of this work.

The council accepted responsibility for the slabs around the Green and carried out repairs to replace broken slabs, relaid slabs to ensure an even surface and repointed between all the slabs.

The Trustees are grateful for the support and commitment of those members who gave up their time and made an effort to carry out work on the green, around the green, the replacing of boards, the digging and filling of the bank and the upkeep of the pavilion.

## **Sponsorship**

The Trustees would like to acknowledge and thank our President for his continued financial support and also Mr. Norman Perry and Mr. David Eckton for their significant financial contributions throughout the year.

The Trustees would also wish to thank Eco Glaze UK and Absolute Grasscare for their continued financial support.

## **Other Events**

The club joined other organisations in the village to lay a wreath on Remembrance Sunday at the Bryn War Memorial.

The club held a Presentation in December 2019 and the Trustees wish to extend their thanks for the amount of time and effort put in by members and their wives to make it a very enjoyable evening.

## **Tour 2020**

The Tour had to be cancelled but hopefully it will take place in 2021.

Let us hope for some return to normality in 2021 as 2020 has been a hugely challenging year for everybody. Every club in every sport will have experienced great difficulty in keeping going and it is only with the determination and support of our members and the wider community that Bryn Welfare Bowls will continue.
