## Grassroots to Greatness 

Declines at grassroots level in participation, depth of fields and achievement continue although we have begun to see some positive steps being taken by a few clubs in the region to address these issues. Promoting and expanding these signs of growth has occupied much of our time this year. 

Despite huge efforts our attempt to stage the North West Combined Events championships were marred by the lack of officials; numbers have dropped hugely and those who remain have been corralled into supporting few events outside the national and regionally organised ones. 

However we have undertaken much background work with clubs and County organisations to prepare the ground for our initiatives in the future. We also remain in control of costs and resources while building plans for significant fundraising initiatives to come.
