Achievements and Performance
Seion's Sunday worship services continued throughout 2022 with a faithful number attending. Some special services and meetings aimed at bringing new people in to Seion were also held. Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee was marked by both an afternoon tea (which was attended by over 50 people) and a special Sunday morning service. The death of Queen Elizabeth was also marked by a special service on the following Sunday morning. Our annual carol service was held the Sunday before Christmas with a good number of people who are not regular members of our congregation attending. We have run a number of meals/services for over 60s. Seion's pastor has taken, and the chapel also hosted, a number of funeral services. Our prayer meeting is held on a Monday in the chapel but our Bible Study is now held on Thursdays through telephone conferencing. This has made it possible for people who live quite a distance away from the chapel and those who (due to illness or infirmity) aren't able to attend evening meetings to study the Bible with us. A significant proportion of Seion's congregation phone in for the Bible studies. The Covid pandemic meant that our children's meetings had been suspended up until the summer 2022 (the local school was enforcing class bubbles until then to prevent the spread of Covid and we didn't want to compromise that). We ran a 'Holiday Bible Club' (fun activities for children through which Bible stories are told) at the end of the school summer holidays and have been able to reestablish a weekly children's meeting since.
Financial Review
Income for the year was £25,858 compared to £23,313 for the previous year. Expenditure for the year was £31,353 compared to £33,794 for the previous year. This gave a deficit on the year of (£5,495) compared to (£10,481) for the previous year. The deficit for the year was covered by cash reserves which still have a healthy balance of £51,016. We continue to be grateful to the church members and others who faithfully support the work of the church through their financial giving.
