Trustee selection methods Apart from the first charity trustees who are appointed for a term of two years, every trustee must be appointed for a term (eg. appointed by, elected by) of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.
The only voting members are the charity trustees.

The trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the Charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error. The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the company is exposed, in particular those related to the operations and finances of the company, and are satisfied that systems and procedures are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration or other benefits. Wealden Festival Foundation runs primarily through volunteers giving their time to the organisation.

The Charity’s Objectives are as follows:
- 1) To advance the education of the public in the subject of literature, the arts and the environment;

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
The results for the year, and the charity's financial position at the end of the period, are shown in the attached financial statements.
During the year the charity supported educational projects within the Charity’s objectives. In particular:

A packed programme of outdoor events and creative workshops for children during Wealden Literary Festival

Work experience for students and young adults during Wealden Literary Festival

A packed programme of events and workshops for adults led by leading writers, poets and artists during Wealden Literary Festival
Section E Financial review
Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves
The Charity has completed its fourth financial year. The Trustees recognise the importance of maintaining a realistic level of unrestricted reserves in future to ensure that adequate funds are available to enable the charity to continue in its activities in the event of a drop in funding or any significant event. The Charity aims to achieve reserves equivalent to 6 months’ expenditure.
