We provided support to patients through
our support group who were experiencing
heightened distress at their skin condition
during this period.
We represented patients with vitiligo in the
NHS Dermatology Advisory Group in
dealing with the advent of teledermatology
for patients and representing concerns that
this might disadvantage vitiligo patients.
We continued to contribute to the British
Association of Dermatologists Guidelines
for managing patients with vitiligo
representing the practicalities of having the
skin disease, and the psychosocial impact
of the disease and providing a vital
treatment roadmap giving structure and
support to patients’ treatment journies.
We responded to patient queries through
our main engagement with our members,
the Facebook group, giving advice as to
how to access treatment using the
Guidelines mentioned above and
supporting people in their advocacy for

ensure that vitiligo is represented as a
condition at the British Association of
Dermatologists (BAD) and in the NHS
Working Group relating to the management
of teledermatology.
We advocate for patients by representing
them on committees such as the Patient
Engagement Workstream at the BAD
where we ensure that we can canvass the
views of our members on issues that arise
in relation to current topics, such as the use
of images to triage patients into the
dermatology service.
We contributed to the “Vitiligo” chapter of
the book_Skin conditions in young people:_
_A practical guide on how to be comfortable_
_in your skin_by Tess McPherson in order to
help young people with vitiligo and educate
them about treatments for their condition
and managing its impact.
Our work on the Guidelines for managing
patients with vitiligo enabled us in particular
to represent the importance of including
