The structure is a simple one with four voting trustees. As an environmental (although non-political) organisation, LCL exists within a loose network of similar organisations within the North Lincolnshire area. Specifically, it has strong links (and some shared membership) with:

**public beneft)**|The provision of a food composting scheme:
The Community Composting Scheme (CCS) is a wholly charitable
activity – outside normal public or private provision. It has a
proven track record, having been in operation since June 2014,
since when it has expanded. It operates on environmental
principles within the town of Louth. When LCL was set up in
December 2016, the ongoing costs of the scheme were funded
with fnancial help received from Transition Town Louth.
Subsequently, a grant of £500 was given by East Lindsey District
Council for the purchase of further start-up equipment: a second
shredder, a two-metre cubed fold-down composter, and some
food caddies. It is non-proft making – the small sums derived
from the sale of organic compost are ploughed back into
supporting the work.
The scheme works by collecting food waste by bicycle and trailer
from households that are part of the scheme and turning this into
organic compost suitable for growing food. CCS member
households are ofered organic compost bags on favourable
terms.
The promotion of cycling as an environmentally friendly mode of
transport:
Inter alia, LCL undertakes the repair of bicycles free of charge
with voluntary donations ploughed back into the support of its
activities.
The promotion of organic gardening:
Three organic community gardens are managed by LCL. The
food grown is given away free.|

volunteers as well as the public at large in its work, whether
actively or passively, and is mindful, if young or vulnerable
people are involved, of the need for suitable safeguarding
policies and practices to be put in place.
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in less activity
at the public access community gardens in line with government
guidelines.
The community composting scheme continued throughout the
periods of lockdown as it was considered an essential service.|

A robust fnancial regime remains in place and LCL is fnancially
secure.
Public liability insurance cover was maintained.
The trustees met formally on 2 occasions and the meetings were
minuted and approved.
Specifcally in relation to LCL’s three objects:
The three organic community gardens managed by LCL were
maintained to a satisfactory standard. The level of participation
by local people was recorded as part of monitoring LCL activity.
For the year ended 31 August 2022, the Community Composting
Scheme took in 24 households within the town of Louth –
comprising perhaps 55 people. During the period of this report
682 individual house collections were made and the 1716
kilograms of domestic waste collected were diverted to the
process of production of organic compost. It was decided to end
the scheme at the end of August 202 due to other time
demands on the lead volunteer. We were unable to recruit a
regular volunteer to continue the scheme.
During the initiative which began in 2014 the scheme has
collected almost 20,000 kgs of waste from 5366 individual
household collections. The average waste per household
collected was 2.5 kg.
Approximately 1 tonne of fnished compost was produced, the
bulk of which was applied to the community gardens, a small
amount being donated back to householders.
James Pocklington delivered a “Gardening in Schools”
presentation as part of CPD training for teachers held at the
Lincolnshire Show on the 18/06/22. The charity received a
donation of £100 from the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society.
James subsequently visited Billinghay School to deliver the same
presentation and ofer advice on site.|

The Community gardens in the town centre were tended by volunteers led by James Pocklington on several occasions and refreshments were purchased for participating volunteers after those sessions.
