It contained infonnation about bees. beekeeping and bee friendly plants. Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the diffe￿n￿ the charity's work has made to the arcumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. Para 1.20 An infonnation table, manned by trustees with handouts about the Asian Homet was used at Acom Bank during weekends throughout the summer season, to raise the awareness of the general public to the dangers of the Asian Homet and how it should be ￿ported as a non-native invasive species rf spotted. Resources were sourced and purthased so that 50 Asian Homet Watch Kits could be compiled and distributed to PBKA members at the AGM and other local interest groups. The infomiation in the kits was in duplicate so that recipients could retsin one set and pass the documents onto someone else. Handouts supplied by the National Bee Unit (NBU) were also available for PBKA Trustees to give out to visitors at Acom Bank on the aftemoons of the Branch Meetings. Grant fundlng was used to design and produce a set of five A1 infonnation boards. These were used to develop a display and infomiation table at Penrith Library during April and in Carlisle Library during May. A school project about the value of honey bees and their life cycle were undertaken at Warcop Primary School (82 pupils) during June. A group of members from Penrith Lions visited the apiary for a presentation about bees followed by an opportunity to visit the apiary and observe the bees while the apiary managers carried out a bee inspection. Oral History Trail: 3 beekeepers were interviewed by a Community Development officer about the setting up of the apiary and the value of bees to the environment.

The recorded transcript of this conversation will be included in an oral history trail for a￿sS by the general public on visits to Acom Bank. Trainlng for aspiring boekeepers: Introducing Beekeeper Course: June 2024. 14 attended. 1000/0 recorded excellent to all aspects of the course. Course participants induded Iwo students. PBKA Stall and Observatlon hlve at local events: Kirt(by Stephen Westmorfand Dales Arts Event 28th July. Approximately 30 people visited the stsii during the day. Apple Day at Hutton in the FO￿St (29 September) Approximately 40 people visited the stall during the day. th Swarni collectlon: Swami collectlon: Total of 15 swarms were collected by team of 11 swami collectors in response to requests received from the general public. The swam collection process and the conversations that take place when inappropriate call outs are made, helps to educate the general public about how to identify bees and deal with them. 5 call outs related to bumble bee and wasp nests. There were more incidences of advice being given through telephone conversations and in some instances these led to 'call outs, being avoided. Th￿e visits were to properties where bees had nested within the building. These included bees that had established themselves in the building following the removal of other bee nests eadier in the season. The￿ is an absence of builders in Cumbria who are available to deconstruct sections of properties to remove bees from inaccessible places and this is a growing concem to propety owners Whe￿ colonies inhabit sites where other bees have been because the residue of old frames and pheromones remain and attract newcomers. Unlike tt)e south of England, Ihere are no companies in Cumbria offering hive removal service which involves dismantling part of a property. This issue has been reported to the BBKA. There was a higher incidence of advice provided and unnecessary call outs avoided. A swami catcher box was provided to the Buddhist Temple. Sometimes swarm collectors receive calls

when they are away on holiday and out of the area. The establishment of a 'Wthats App, Group for the swann collectors might enable them to speedily pass callerfs quesus to other swarm collectors to deal with rf the are not available.
