The Trustees present their report and financial statement for the year ended 5th September 2021. 

## **Legal Status** 

Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation - Charity Number 1170434. 

## **Review of Activities** 

In our accounting year 5th September 2020 - 5th September 2021 Team Imagineers provided classes and workshops in arts and crafts skills. 

**Social Impact** For every £1 invested in Team Imagineers as a charity, generates over £5 value in terms of contribution to the local community, generating wellbeing, happiness in participants, brightening and improving the built environment.

## **COVID-19** 


**Learning was delivered** from September 2020 to September 2021 through a series of Covid secure dance and visual arts workshops whenever restrictions allowed; funded by the National Lottery. Our volunteer training at St Helier Hospital on infection control/ health and safety, in 2020, helped us create Covid-secure working conditions. The Foyle Foundation required us to work online so we continued with regular Zoom gatherings; where people learnt new creative skills, exercised and socialised. 

**Our Social Media** furthered arts learning delivery and Team Imagineers’ online visibility. 

**Outreach and networking** we had meetings and conversations with: Sutton Uplift, Inspire (mental Health), African Caribbean Village, Jeff Richards of Sutton FX, Ros Griffiths of Sutton Council Covid, Children’s Social Services, Samia Tossio of SamiArt, Yasmin Watson of Halima Muslima Wellbeing, Community Action Sutton, Sutton Plan for Social Prescribing, Nicola Upton of Age Concern, Sutton Mental Health Foundation, Squirrels Community Scrap Scheme, Christine Lindsey of Wallington Community Wellbeing network, South Sutton Hello–who run activities for elderly residents, Friends of Oaks Park, Dawn Fielding of Sutton Council re Beddington Park, Nicole Luckett Participation and Engagement Officer for Sutton Council, some of which led to workshops and activities delivered this year detailed below.  Further opportunities from this outreach will reach fruition in our next reporting year. 

We worked with a total of 479 beneficiaries during the year.

All 479 were new participants, 158 people gained arts learning, 196 gained dance and movement learning, 100% felt their mental health had been improved through the activity. 

65 were from the general community, 12 had a disability,196 were from a disadvantaged background, 13 were elderly, 15 were vulnerable (shielding or self isolating for health reasons) and 73 were young people. 

**Dance Sessions:** Olga, a Team Imagineers freelancer, continued delivery of online Live Biodanza. Working with people who were financially disadvantaged and of mixed ethnicity as well as with Russian immigrants. She also delivered covid secure workshops at venues including parks. Offering people opportunities to meet up in person who wanted to get out as restrictions lifted. 

We found some people were still nervous about meeting up in person when restrictions lifted and benefited from being able to chat and learn skills online through zoom workshops. 

**Online digital learning content:** Hana developed new content that promoted learning and signposted online audiences to online Zoom and offline workshops at venues. Hana also developed a short series of posts on natural dyes and eco-printing and is developing instructional drawing videos that will be uploaded to our website and YouTube. 

**Analogue Art Pack** design and assemblage, for users of deprived backgrounds who have no access to the Internet or WiFi. With Arts instruction booklet and basic materials

**Just Giving Campaign** we raised £1500 for workshops  with vulnerable women. 

**Volunteers** gave comments on posters, letters about our current projects and our **Art Pack booklet** to make them more impactful, clearer, and made changes to our website.  Adrienne Roberts, a prior mover and shaker on the management committee of Arts Network Sutton, has many years practical experience as an arts practitioner and joins us as our new chair of Trustees from September 2021. 


**Olga Bastable** worked with 256 people: 

Arts activities for 60 children in care/children who are carers, at a Funday for the Children in Care Council, The the 12th August. 

Quad, for music Rosh 

**Biodanza classes.** Biodanza Zoom series 5 classes for beginners, Russian Community; 4 Zoom classes designed older people, Russian speakers - gentle movements with 32 people. Biodanza Jewish Liberal Community in person, Hashanah Celebration, 18 people

## **Everyday Heroes, installations so far:** 

Great Carlton Social Club, Royal Surrey Hospital, Jasmine Cottage (Market Rasen), Sutton Uplift, Royal Marsden Hospital (Children’s Cancer Unit) Possible installations: The Quad, Your Space Sutton (Garden Centre and Cafe) 

**Jeff Richards, of Sutton Fx** , spent many months organising a memorial garden honouring an eminent Victorian, Dr George Rice, who lived in Sutton. He made a large contribution to Sutton and was a trailblazing individual partly because he was also African. He has been largely forgotten, but Jeff now has permission for the garden, which will be adjacent to St Nicholas Church, opposite the

Council offices, in Sutton. We have been asked to contribute hearts that will serve as an important memorial wall, honouring the sacrifices of the Sutton community during the COVID pandemic.

**On Instagram tutorials we are making tutorials, so far we have one on natural dyeing and one on felting.** 

**On Instagram we also look at different artists (El-Seed pictured) and their work as part of our ongoing arts education initiative, and we also campaign to raise awareness that Art Is Essential, not a luxury.**

## **Thank You** 

Thank you to the artists (in alphabetical order) Olga Bastable, Simon Honey and Hana Horack, we appreciate their skill and sensitivity in working with people who are vulnerable;  to Adrienne Roberts for her work in firing clay hearts and art booklet feedback; to our volunteers who gave helpful comments and feedback on the art booklet; to Squirrels Community Scrap Scheme for being there for materials for our Art Pack. 

## **What next for Team Imagineers?** 

**We are proud to be able to work with ignored communities and give them hope and a voice to celebrate their creativity.** 

**We have been talking to Sutton Uplift which is a mental health hub. They are keen on a wellbeing arts project that involves staff and clients creating art to brighten their impersonal space. We hope to attract funding to be able to deliver a project with them in 2022 and into 2023.** 

**We are finally able to continue our work with children in the School Unit at the Royal Marsden, Belmont. The project stopped due to COVID, so we still have funding left to deliver sessions.** 

**Similarly, we hope that we will be able to continue working with patients and staff in hospitals.**

Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements each financial year, which gives them the authority to: 

- Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; 

- Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; 

- State whether the policies adopted are in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) and with applicable accounting standards, subject to any material departures disclosed and exploited in the financial statement; 

- Prepare the ongoing statement on the ongoing concern basis, unless it is inappropriate to assume that the charity will continue in operation. 

Trustees are accountable for the charity’s solvency, continuing effectiveness and the preservation of its endowments. They must exercise overall control over its financial affairs. They should ensure that the way the charity is administered is not open to abuse by unscrupulous associates or employees; and that their systems of control are rigorous and constantly maintained.
