**the twelve month period. This equated**
**to 50,366 kg of food and other essential**
**items being given out. Stock intake for**
**the year totalled 46,559 kg, which**
**included 39,042kg donated by the public**
**and other supporting bodies and**
**6,784kg of purchases paid for using**
**financial donations.**
**Under our wider Financial Inclusion**
**work, which is carried out by partners**
**and paid staff using grants awarded**
**from various sources listed in our**
**accounts:**
**: Christians Against Poverty has**
**provided debt advice and support to 70**
**clients, managed £386,100 worth of debt**
**and seen 18 people go debt free with**
**£118,000 of their debt being written off.**
**: 18 people attended our life skills**
**courses to improve their ongoing**
**resilience to managing life on a low**
**income.**
**: 132 clients who were referred to**
**Citizens Advice through the foodbank**
**resulted in £3000 of debt being**
**managed, £405 of which was written off.**
**Also £283,917 of financial gains were**
**achieved through, for example, benefit**
**advice and claim amendments.**
**: 30 clients were also supported and**
**helped through the Eastern Valley**
**Counselling service.**
**It is estimated that the combined work**
**of our support and advice projects has**
**resulted in approximately 115 families**

The Charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: - examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act; - to follow the applicable directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Act, and; - to state whether particular matters have come to my attention ## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement** My examination was carried out in accordance with general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: - accounting records were not kept in accordance with Section 130 of the Charities Act; - the accounts do not accord with the accounting records.
