Chair’s Report
2024 has been another positive year with growth in the number of Win On Waste sessions, new volunteers joining the team and a new member of staff to continue the strategic development of Win On Waste across the county.
As a charity we have seen a year on year increase in the diversion of waste to be recycled / re-used with promotion of sustainability; supporting local charities; and engaging with the community. There has been continual improvement with new waste schemes being investigated with the support from ambassadors, volunteers old and new, the newly appointed volunteer coordinator and the trustees. Our Business Manager has steadfastly continued to win bids for continuation of schemes and development of new projects.
Thank you to everyone involved, giving time, energy, and engagement to reduce our society's impact on the environment and providing positive community spirit. I look forward to the new projects, challenges and opportunity's that 2025 will bring.
Best wishes, Harriet, Chair
Life President’s Comments
Well done Win on Waste for another successful year! The figures speak for themselves. 3.25 tonnes of hard to recycle waste saved from the bin. 118 Win on Waste sessions run helping 4,500 households to donate their items. 32 charities helped by collecting items of waste they need. A fantastic result!
This has only been achieved because of our brilliant volunteers and staff. We’ve welcomed 10 new volunteers and it’s such a pleasure to speak to them and hear how passionate and enthusiastic they are about their roles.
Looking after all our volunteers is our latest member of staff, Julia, our Volunteer Co-ordinator. Although she works very part-time hours she is totally committed to the care and support of all volunteers. Thank you all.
Another thank you is for our wonderful Business Manager, Stacey and our equally wonderful Trustees, David, Elaine, Harriet, Marion and Richard. Such a wonderful team of people who are all working very hard to steer Win on Waste to even greater success in 2025.
Best wishes, Monique, Life President

Another New Session for Win on Waste!
Win on Waste was pleased to return to Southbourne in 2024. as this was one of our most asked-for locations. With support from Immanuel URC Church in Southbourne, and enthused by the great recycling work already taking place there, our Christchurch volunteer team )led by Gina) helped tor bring a Win on Waste session back to the area.
So far, this session has collected over 60kg of waste and welcomed over 70 local households and, with the support of a pro-active and passionate local team who have undertaken all of the promotional work for this session in Southbourne, things are looking bright for Win on Waste in Southbourne!

Income
Our funding comes from a variety of sources, principally grants, donations and fundraising. We would particularly like to thank our key funders for 2023/24 who are listed individually on the following page, Terracycle, who provide a financial donation for the waste we process with them, Recycle4Charity who process our printer ink cartridges, Scott Hedger for his continuing donations for postage stamps and the generous donations we received from our supporters at our Win On Waste events during 2023/24. We are grateful to every one of our donors who has contributed to our fundraising this year by taking part in our local activities. We would also like to thank Barry Faith for his continuing donation and Moira Ledger, Marion Burton and Elaine Langdown for their support in fundraising at public-facing events.
Expenditure
Our principal spending is on staff salaries. We have developed an extensive network of volunteers, groups and activities, including processing a significant amount of waste and this requires considerable support and co-ordination. As our volunteers provide the bulk of the work undertaken by the charity, we require a Volunteer Coordinator to ensure they are fully supported and rewarded for giving their time and expertise. A large amount of time is also spent on developing our case for support and applying for grant funding to support our core body of work.
Funding Success:
In 2023/24 we give our grateful thanks for support from the following funders, without whom we would be unable to run our charity:
Awarded funding to redevelop our recycling directories and broaden their scope, focusing on all recycling solutions and moving further into Dorset
Awarded funding to support the core costs of our charity, and to support the Southbourne session.
Our Thanks go to:
