|||||||The gardens<br>welcomed<br>back both past and new groups<br>following<br>the<br>easing of restrictions<br>imposed<br>by the pandemic<br>in 2020.||
|||||||Both allotment<br>areas are fully occupied (25 in total). A number<br>of external||
|||||||groups opted for an allotment<br>tenancy<br>to provide a focused outdoor||
|||||||activity for many of their sessions. Allotments<br>also provide<br>produce for<br>our local foodbank<br>and wider community.||
|||||||We hosted 5 Family Afternoon<br>events<br>during 2021.These events are||
|||||||increasing<br>in popularity,<br>and measures<br>were introduced<br>to restrict||
|||||||numbers<br>for safe distancing.<br>A 'pre-registration'<br>ticket system was put<br>into operation<br>(at no cost), plus a reserve<br>list for those families that had||
|||||||missed the registration<br>process.||
|||||||Although<br>there was no resurrection<br>of the 'After School Gardening<br>Club',||
|||||||we welcomed<br>a group of children<br>with Additional<br>Needs from Maple Tree,<br>Hawbush<br>Primary School,<br>who enjoyed onsite activities for a period of<br>time.<br>Regrettably<br>logistics ofschool time and volunteer<br>availability||
|Summary||ofthe main||||brought<br>an end to those sessions after a short period||
|activities<br>undertaken<br>for the<br>public benefit in relation to<br>these objects (include within||||||Youth Offenders Scheme returned,<br>albeit with a smaller group who<br>attended<br>one day per week.||
|this section the statutory<br>declaration<br>that trustees<br>have<br>had regard to the guidance<br>issued<br>by the Charity<br>Commission<br>on public<br>benefit)||||||Towards the end of2021, Dudley CVS 'Integrated<br>Plus' group joined us,<br>initially<br>leasing one of our allotments<br>for the purpose<br>of supporting<br>socially prescribed<br>individuals.<br>From Integrated<br>Plus a further<br>group<br>developed,<br>Ecko Collective and together they landscaped<br>and adapted<br>a<br>section ofthe woodland<br>to create an outdoor meeting space which<br>provides a safe base for therapeutic<br>work with natural<br>and sustainable||
|||||||crafts.<br>The group also built an outdoor 'compost'<br>toilet.<br>This group||
|||||||supports<br>many<br>NHS referrals.||
|||||||A retired YOS reparation<br>mentor successfully<br>maintained<br>two bee hives,||
|||||||which enabled<br>us to produce<br>our first harvest of 5 litres of Hawbush||
|||||||Honey. The beekeeper also donates<br>money from any sales from honey<br>and the by-products<br>ofthe bees.||
|||||||Various groups ofvolunteers<br>have provided<br>manual<br>support<br>to projects<br>on site, and garden<br>management<br>to several local families.||
|||||||We saw an increase<br>in volunteer<br>numbers<br>during<br>this year, with<br>approximately<br>155volunteers<br>providing<br>7450 volunteering<br>hours. This|is|
|||||||a significant<br>increase to 2019and 2020, and reflects an improved||
|||||||awareness<br>ofthe health and wellbeing<br>benefits ofgardening<br>and "green"<br>outdoor activity.||

|~<br>Workshop 24:Social art /gardening<br>Group, created the "sheltering<br>from the storm" which has benefitted<br>many ofour other groups.<br>This group organised<br>a series ofopen days to allow participants<br>to share their work.|

|With generous<br>donations<br>frcm Wickes Community<br>Funds, our volunteer|
|groups have carried out works to replace<br>loft insulation,<br>to improve<br>comfort to those using the community<br>room, particularly<br>during<br>winter|
|months.|
|High Oak Youth Volunteers<br>helped to improve the pond area, and ex<br>Princes Trust volunteers<br>improved<br>drainage<br>where discharged<br>spring|
|water was causing<br>problems<br>on site.|
|We assisted<br>Dudley Gymnastics<br>Club by clearing the area for their new|
|venue<br>and plans<br>in progress to secure funding<br>to develop an attractive|
|green space.|
|Volunteers<br>from Integrated<br>Plus carried out refurbishment<br>ofthe|
|community<br>room,<br>and toilet.<br>Work is also now being proposed to|
|upgrade<br>the kitchen that will allow us to offer a 'Community<br>Cafe' along<br>with the ability to provide catering<br>for activities<br>on site.|
|Volunteers<br>have assisted<br>Dudley<br>Housing<br>Dept with two particularly|
|vulnerable<br>families whose gardens<br>had become overgrown<br>and faced|
|enforcement<br>action.<br>Feedback from the Housing<br>Manager explained<br>how<br>the improvements<br>had lifted stress, anxiety and depression<br>from the|
|families and there was a positive impact to all the family,<br>particularly<br>the|
|children<br>who were able to access the garden space.|
|Work was also carried out on two other gardens<br>following<br>direct contract|
|from the families.|
|We continued<br>to support the Black Country<br>Foodbank<br>with 110kgs|
|potatoes,<br>58kg tomatoes,<br>41kg cucumbers<br>and 9 kg of misc vegetables.|
|Additional<br>produce was also provided<br>to local families or community|
|gloups.|
|Maintained<br>links with Brierley<br>Hill Community<br>Forum, contributing<br>to the|
|Brierley<br>Hill Heritage<br>Event, covering<br>local history and heritage<br>ofthe|
|Brierley<br>Hill area.|
