# **Knighton Show and Carnival Registered Charity number: 1170350** ## **Annual Report 2024-2025** ## Chair Paul Davies thanked the RAFA club for their continuing support by hosting meetings, Radnor Hills for their support and sponsorship and all committee members for their hard work over the last 12 months. Highlights of the year included the presentation of Youth Grants for 2025 to the successful applicants, Sarah Griffith for agreeing to be our President for the year, Yaz, Mindy and Sarah G for taking on the horticulture section. Very grateful thanks to Sarah Hamer for her hard work as Horticulture Secretary for the last few years. Thanks also go to Tony Vogel and all from Radnor Hills who helped with all the preparation for the Show. Show day dawned with great weather. The procession was one of the biggest we have had for a few years. Acts and attractions were very good and the dog show goes from strength to strength. Lots of people turned out on the day – so many that we ran out of wrist bands. The clean up after the show went well – thanks to all who helped and thanks to Radnor Hills for the loan of the marquee and to the school for the loan of the tea tent. The fireworks were held at Bensons Yard for the first time in 35 years and had a great turn out despite the weather. Many thanks to Ray Edwards, Dawn Burgoyne, and all at Claytons. Thanks also to Alan and Dave for collecting the fireworks from Yorkshire and to Dean, Pete and Karmel for running the display. Thankfully the card machines worked and thanks also go to Young Farmers for arranging the car parking. ## Treasurer Dave Williams presented the accounts. The closing balance from 2024/25 year was £26,000 in November 2025 – down from £32,500 in December 2024 as a result of trying to lower the levels of reserves by reducing the levels of sponsorship requested in 2025. The Fireworks in November generated a surplus of £500.Carnival/Show ## Show & Carnival Secretary Sally Rawlings thanked everyone for all of their hard work in putting the show on – especially as it was the first time so many of the committee had been involved with the organising of the event. Highlights included the pig racing, the Welsh Axemen, the falconry, and the combined demonstrations by Knighton Fire & Rescue and Knighton First Responders all were received extremely well by attendees. The activities – including the bouncy castles and climbing wall were extremely busy and the sideshows – Splat the Teacher by John Beddoes School and the Human Fruit Machine by the Show Committee were also very popular. Thanks also go to Steve Yeomans for organising the non-stop live music from local bands and singers. ## Election of Trustees Resignations during 2025: Sue Davis and Louise Hardwick – therefore no other trustees need to retire unless they wish to do so.
