Annual Report of the Trustees of Knighton Show and Carnival 2023 Registered Charity number 1170350
2022 - 2023
Chair’s report
A Massive thank you to all Committee and volunteers who have helped this year, and thank you to the RAFA Club who have hosted the meetings during the year.
The sponsorship has been fantastic for the show and fireworks. Firework night in 2022 was a big success with the biggest fire to date. A very busy night with a spectacular show of fireworks.
‘Legends’ was the chosen theme for the show and carnival, and all acts for the show were booked before Christmas.
We were happy to be able to donate part of the profit raised to local youth groups in and around the town.
Our Show President did a fantastic job. The best dressed window competition was very well supported by the businesses of Knighton. All were worthy of a prize.
The lead up to the show went well, with good help and volunteers for the banners and flags. Show week went somewhere near to plan, with our small team of efficient helpers. Show day - procession was fantastic, plenty on foot and great floats. The acts on the field were very enjoyables, shame about the wrestlers breaking down on the way. The heavy showers didn’t deter the punters, and the card machine proved to be a massive help on the gate. The music, as usual, was a big success. The Horticultural section was high quality as always, with expert administration. The evening went smoothly with the fireworks to finish which were fantastic.
The feedback from the show day has been very positive. Clean up went well. Banners and flags down, all over for another year!
We also held our annual firework and bonfire event, which although having to be rescheduled due to monsoon rainfall, was extremely well attended and supported.
Thank you!
The Treasurer's report was read out for the year and relates to the accounts attached.
Total income was £22,707 with £5937 from Bonfire Night, £16770 from Carnival Day which includes £11,261 in entry fees and £4922 of sponsorship.
