DAN has a management committee of 16 people. No members of the committee received any remuneration or other benefits during the year.
DAN is formed from local people who originate from the Darfur region of western Sudan and who reside in Nottingham city and the surrounding area. The organisation seeks to improve the lives of its members, promote racial harmony and support integration amongst the local population by demonstrating to the public the history, cultural heritage, languages and other aspects of the area and peoples of Darfur and Western Sudan.

We kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings when planning our activities. Throughout the year ended 31 December 2020, DAN rented a meeting room at Hyson Green Youth Club (HGYC) in order to bring members of our community in Nottingham closer together. However, DAN reduced the range of activities it provides due to the Coronavirus lockdowns .

Section E Financial review
Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves
We hold cash at Barclays Bank of £2,380 of which £500 is restricted fund. We hold these funds to carryout community events, activities, rent venues and to meet any unforeseen expenditure.
We aim to hold at least £600 and no more than £8,000 in reserves at the year end.
*The amount £500 is a grant funding from Nottingham Equal that we brought forward from 2019 year end - the amount was for a community event scheduled in 2020 and had been postponed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
