The Trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ending 30 June 2025.
STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires us as the Trustees of the UK Friends of
the Nabonal Ballet of Canada to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the
financial activities of the Charity during the accounting year, and the Charivs financial position at the end
of the year. In preparing those accounts the Trustees are required to:
(a) select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently,
(b) make judgements and estlmates that are re8sonable and prudent; and
(c) prepare the accounts on the going concem basis (unless it is
inappropriate to assume that the Charity will continue in operation).
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with
reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity. They are also responsible
for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence taking reasonable steps to prevent and
detect fraud and other irregularities.
ORGANISATION'S OBJECTS
To promote the arts of ballet and dance, and to Improve public understanding and appreciation of the arts of
ballet and dance by supporting such of the activities of the Natlonal Ballet of Canada as are exdusively
charitsble according to the law of England and Wales, and by such other charitsble means as the UK Friends
Trustees think fit.
ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
The UK Friends of The National Ballet of Canada (UK Frlends) was registered as a charity by the Charity Commission on
15th November 2016 (Registered Charity Number 1170186). The activities of the ninth year of the UK Friends ended on
30 June 2025.

In cooperation with Sadlerfs Wells and with the support of Natasha Anderson, Head of Community Engagemen( UK
Friends of The Natlonal Ballet of Canada delivered the following programmes to students and seniors in the communty
during the tour of the National Ballet to London in October 2024.
. Students In the local corrniunity were Invited to the Dress Rehearsal on Wednesday, 2 October 2024 for free.
. Students In the local communty were invited to attend the Company Class on stage at Sadlerfs Wells on Frlday, 4
October 2024 for free.
The Natlonal Ballet of Canada Artistlc Director, Hope Mulr, and Repetiteur, Stephanie Hutchinson, led a workshop on
Angels, Atlas for the Sadlerfs Wells Culture Club programme for Seniors on Friday, 4 October 2024 for free.
. The National Ballet of Canada Artlstic Director. Hope Muir, tsught a class for progessional dance students in the
communlty on S8turday, 5 October 2024 at Sadlerfs Wells for free.

Canada to London at Sadlerfs Wells from Wednesday 2 October- Sunday 6 October 2024. The UK Frlends was also
very Involved In organlslng events for the Patrons of the Tour when In London.
The Natlonal Ballet of Canada toured to London'8 Sadlerfs Wells Theatre from 2-6 October 2024, marking thelr first vlslt
to London as a company on tour slnce 2013. The company perforn￿d Frontlorn: Choreographorn of Canada, a triple
blll of works by Canadlans: Angels. Atlas (Crystsl Plte), Islands (Emma Portner), and Passlon (James Kudelka). Key

The UK Frlends of The Natlonal Ballet of Canada Invlted Pamela Kendel, th8 wlfe of the Canadlan Hlgh Commlssloner to
the UK to be our Tour Patron. Pamela was an actlve and enthuslastlc Patron, and helped to maka the tour a huge
success. The UK Frlends 8180 arranged for a fund-ra181ng event wlth the Canada Club on 3 October 2024 for Its
members in which Hope Mulr Jennlfer Maxwell (chalr of Canada Club), Blll Smith (Bank of Montreal), Nancy Miller. Chalr
of the UK Frlends, and Dlana Reltberger, Dlrector of Development for The Natlonal Ballet of Canada, along with dancers
from The Natlonal Ballet of Canada attended a poSt-perfor￿nce cocktsll paty.

Finally, The UK Friends held a post-perfomiance fund-raising paty on Saturday, 5 October for members of UK Friends
that was organised by Diana Reitberger and her team along with Nancy Miller. It was also a great success.
Nomlnatlons and Awards
The National Ballet of Canada was nomlnated for two Olivier Awards for the first time recognizing thelr October 2024 tour
at Sadlerfs Wells in London. The nominations for the 2025 awards included Best New Dance Productlon for Frontiers:
Choreographers of Canada and Outstanding Achievement In Dance for Tom Visser's lighting design for Angels. Auas.
The National Ballet of Canada also received further recognition In the UK in 2025 for its tour to London, winning a Critics.
Circle National Dance Award for Best Classical Choreography (Crystal Pite's Angels, Atlas) and eamlng nominations for
Outstanding Company.

On 15 January, 2025, a meeting was held by Zoom of the Trustees of the UK Frfends of the National Ballet of Canada. In
attendance was Nancy Miller (Chair of The UK Friends of The National Ballet of Canada), Kathleen Crook, Bary
Hughson and Dlana Reitberger.
The Chairfs report reviewed all the activities and fundraislng events conceming The National Ballet of Canada's Tour to
London in October 2024:
Monday moming 30 September 2024 - Brunch for patrons was held at the flat of Kathleen Crook and James
Pentum. The Guest of Honour was the Tour Patron, Pamela Kendel.
Monday evening 30 September 2024 - Receptlon and Dinner was held at the Brown's Hotel - Guests of Honour included
Ralph Goodale (Canadian High Commission) and our Tour Patron, Pamela Kendel.
. Tuesday aftemoon 1 October 2024 - The Canadlan High Commission sponsored an Afternoon Tea for the Patrons
(donation made by Ralph Goodale and Pamela Kendel to the National Ballet of Canada).
Wednesday evening 2 October 2024 - Opening Night and Opening Night Paty for the Tour at Sadlerfs Wells sponsored
by the Royal Bank of Canada with sponsorship money going directly to The National Ballet of Canada. Ralph Goodale
made the main speech along with Hope Muir. Nancy Miller thanked Ralph Goodale and Pamela Kendel for their
incredible contributlon to the success of thls tour.
. Thursday evening 3 October 2024 - Canada Club event sponsored by Bank of Montreal (Bill Smith) - attended by Hope
Muir, Diana Reitberger, Bill Smith and Nancy Miller as well as the Chalr of the Canada Club, Jennifer Maxwell.
. Saturday evenlng 3 October 2024 - fund-raising event for the UK Friends sponsored by Kathleen Crook and James
Pentum and Nancy Miller and Glen Ireland - 41 members of the UK Friends of the National Ballet of Canada attended
along with Hope Muir, Diana Reitberger, David Briskin (Music Director and Principal Conductor for The National Ballet of
Canada) and composer Joby Talbot. All tickets purchased for the event were donations made to The UK Friends of the
National Ballet of Canada
The totsl money raised by The UK Friends of The Natlonal Ballet of Canada towards the 2024 tour to London by The
National Ballet of Canada was £23,687.83. A motlon was made by Nancy Miller and seconded by Kathleen Crook that
the UK Friends donate £22,000.00 to The National Ballet of Canada towards the cost of the tour to London in October
2024. Diana Reitberger In the meetlng thanked Nancy Mlller for her leadership and also Rosamond Ivey for her
stewardship as the overall Tour Sponsor to London for the company. She revlewed the upcoming programmes for the
next season at The National Ballet of Canada and reported on the company's continuing search for a new Executive
Director for the company. Kathleen and Nancy reported that they would follow up with looking for potential new
candldates to join as trustees for the UK Frlends of the National Ballet of Canada.
Financlal Revlew
Durlng our fiscal year ending June 30th, 2025, we recelved donations of £14,495.00. Our annual expenses were £25.00
(accountant fees). On February 25, 2025 we donated £22,000 to the Natlonal Ballet of Canada towards their October
2024 tour to London..

As the Trustees you are responslble for the preparatlon of the accounts.
An independent examination of the accounts is not required under section 144(2) of
The Charities Act 2011 as its gross income is less than £25,000
It is my responsibility, without carrying out an independent examination, to prepare the
accounts and report to you.
I have scrutinised the documents submitted to me and confirm
the above is a true and correct statement of the financial affairs of the Trust, and is in agreement
with the accounting records kept by the Trustees as at the 30 June 2025.

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and include the
results of the Charitys operations as described in the Trustees, Report and all of which
are continuing.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the Statements of Recommended
Practice for charity accounts.
The Charity has taken advantage of the exemption of Financial Reporting Standard
No 1 from the requirement to produce a cash flow statement on the grounds that it qualifies
as a small charity.
