Trustees’ Annual Report 01/05/21 – 30/4/22
The trustees of Rosa Foundation confirm that the activities of the charity comply with the Charities Act 2011.
Aims
To work in poverty alleviation and furthering education in South America and where agreed ad hoc projects around the world. This year the Rosa Foundation has been primarily focussed on working in Brazil and the United Kingdom, but has made modest payments of donations to The Gambia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Turkey, Jordan, Pakistan and Syria where there were specific requests for these payments to be made to these places, or there were deemed to be beneficiaries who were otherwise suffering privation and to whom some alleviation of suffering was possible due to access to localised awareness, through trusted well-wishers of Rosa Foundation within the UK.
Objectives
The objectives of Rosa Foundation were to increase traction to the projects, particularly through social media, and the building of a better quality website. Owing to scarcity of funds and trustees’ commitments, these did not materialise as per originally planned.
Achievements
There were contributions made in the form of cash payments for eligible beneficiaries of zakat and sadaqah, frequently these individuals were in dire need. A food distribution project was ran in Ramadan in Aden, Yemen, which helped around 30 families. Some money was also sent to help Syrian widows in Turkey's Hatay province. One vulnerable family at high risk of violence was supported in Brazil. Some restricted and unrestricted aid was distributed within the UK.
Explanatory notes
Costs were negligible and appear as £0. This is because any costs have been absorbed by the trustees out of pocket and therefore there were no costs this year.
Targets for next accounting period
To continue to monitor microcredit loans issued in 2017 and to ensure their efficient and transparent use. To upgrade the website to a more professional standard so that more processes can be managed online. To begin building a social media presence. To apply for the backlog of gift aid
