It has been a busy year for Pre-school.
This year we unfortunately said goodbye Nikki after a long absence due to being unwell. We used a human resources specialist to ensure that the transition went smoothly and we wish Nikki all the best for the future.
With Nikki leaving we hired a new staff member Janine who has many years’ experience, and was working at a local Pre-school that recently closed. Janine has quickly become a valued member of the team and has built good relationships with the children.
Alongside this, due to the local Pre-school closing, we began to take on many new children and now have a waiting list for next year.
We have currently limited our intake of children as we have had an influx of children who require additional support, we want to ensure we are allowing time for additional support and to ensure we are giving children the best learning experience possible.
In September 2024 Carolyn will step down as Manager, she has however, agreed to stay on as deputy for the foreseeable future so will continue to be a valued member of our team. Sara, who was the deputy and has been working at the Pre-school for over 10 years, will stepped up as Manager. The setting will continue to run as it has and no major changes will be made in light of this change.
The setting has applied for and is scheduled to receive further funding to support children with low and emerging needs. This will be used to provide further support and resources as necessary for those children who may need some additional help in their areas of learning.
There has been a restructure of the Southend Borough Council Early Years Team, so we have had members on the Early Years and SEND Team in to observe the setting and provide recommendations for improvement which we have put into practice.
We will continue to work to improve our practice and access training wherever possible for the coming year.
