Section D Achievements and performance
**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**
The Charity supports one of the biggest Polish Saturday Schools outside London. In the school year 2024/25 (which corresponds with the school’s financial year period) there were 220 pupils regularly attending school sessions.
The school organised a number of events throughout the school year such as Nativity Play, 3[rd] May Constitution Day assembly and interactive workshop discussing the Battle of Monte Cassino. There was a special meeting with a writer, Mrs Patrycja KuczewskaŁopińska. During the literacy meeting Mrs Kuczewska- Łopińska encourage children to deepen their interest in literacy and reading.
In 2024/25 school year the school invited a profession photographer. Mr Daniel Cichy visits the school every few years to take pictures of the students with their teachers. Group class pictures were taken. In addition, the school’s main photo display which is a collection of portrait pictures of the students, the teachers, the Head Techer and all the classes’ group pictures was updated. Mr Cichy’s visit is always a popular event as this provides an opportunity to get a professional quality photographs with friends from the supplementary school which help to preserve memories. The school supported and actively participated in events organised by the Polish Catholic Parish in Reading. During the 2024/25 school year the school held 8 cake and coffee sales. There was also one cake sale at one of the teacher’s work places. The funds from those events contributed to cover the cost of the renovation of three classrooms.

## **Report to the Trustees**
I report on my independent examination of the accounts of The Polish Saturday School in Reading for the financial year ended 31[st] August 2025.
## **Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner**
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts and for ensuring that proper accounting records are maintained. The trustees have confirmed that the charity is eligible for independent examination and that a full audit is not required for the year under review.
My responsibility as independent examiner is to examine the accounts, review the accounting records maintained by the charity, and report on any matters which require disclosure in accordance with the applicable requirements of the Charities Act 2011 and the guidance issued by the Charity Commission.
## **Scope of the Examination**
My examination was carried out by reviewing the charity’s accounting records and comparing those records with the financial statements prepared for the year ended 31st August 2025.
The work undertaken included a review of income and expenditure records, bank reconciliations, payroll information, supporting documentation, and other financial records provided by the charity. I also considered whether any unusual items or transactions required further clarification.
An independent examination is not an audit and does not involve the detailed verification of all accounting records or supporting evidence. Accordingly, no audit opinion is expressed.

## **Independent Examiner’s Statement**
Based on the work carried out, no matters have come to my attention which give me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect:
- proper accounting records have not been kept by the charity;
- the accounts do not agree with the accounting records provided;
- the financial information presented is inconsistent with the records reviewed; or
- any matter should be reported in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts.
The records reviewed were complete, well organised, and maintained to a high standard throughout the year. Income and expenditure records, payroll documentation, bank reconciliations, and supporting financial documentation were presented clearly and consistently.
I also noted that the charity continues to maintain appropriate financial controls, including approval of expenses before payment, monitoring of tuition fee income, and the use of accounting records to support ongoing financial oversight.
From the documentation reviewed, the charity’s records appear accurate, transparent, and properly maintained. I found no irregularities, compliance concerns, or matters requiring further comment.
Based on the examination carried out, The Polish Saturday School in Reading appears to be well managed from a financial and procedural perspective.
