ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Summary of the Main Achlevements of the Charity for the Year
Commun
In 2024, BCSA hosted four fantsstic family discos ~ Easter, Summer, HallOv￿een, and
thristmas. Each event welcomed an average of 40 families, with the Halloween dlsco on
again selling out for the fourth consecutlve year. The Easter disco featured a special visit
from Scunthorpe United's Scunny and Hunny Bunny, who delighted children by handing
out Easter eggs. Over the summer, families enjoyed a sweet treat courtesy of a local i
cream van, with BCSA covering the cost so every child could enjoy a compllmentary ice
cream. Halloween was a huge success, wlth amazing costumes all around and prizes
awarded for the bast dressed - everyone tsutry embTrced the spooky spirit! To round off
the year, Father Chrislmas and Mrs Claus lyought festive cheer to the Christmas disco,
handing out Selectlon Boxes to all the children. This was made possible thanks to
generous fundlng from the Wressle 011 Communlty Grant, secured by BCSA.

TRVSTEES, REPORT (continued)
This year we released one Broughton Bulletin.
The issue induded updates from various communlty groups, Broughton Town Councll and
infomiatlon aboLrt up-and-comlng events over the Chrlstmas perlod. We also included
comprthensive information a￿ut the Wressle Community Oil Fund Including recent
beneflclarles and how groups can app￿.
We printed 1000 copies and distributed them to hom&s in Broughton known to have
dderly residents and a150 published it online. The issue also featured an advert from
local charity which helped to fund the printing.
Broughton In Bloom has had another successful year wlth sev&zl new projects completed.
Broughton re￿IVed a sllver award from East midlands in BIOMI and were winners, for the
fourth time, in the small town category of North Llncolnshire s Campalgn for Rural
England.
Two new ralsed beds have been added to the town, on Dalmatlan Way and Windsor Way
and four new obelisks have b￿n constNcted at the cemetery to add height and interest
to a mainty flat site. Th&se have been planted with dimbing plants.
A greater awareness has been given to sustainability and c05t so the volunteers placed
more emphasis on growing their own plants and creating compost. New compostlng blns
have been created on the allotment slte and a polytunnel has also b￿n constructed there
so that flowers can be grown from seed and cheaper plug plants can be nurtured.
Furthemiore, many of the existing t7ised beds have now been planted with perennlals and
drought tolerant plants to reduce any waterlng that needs to be done and to also redu
the number of annual plants that mly last one season.
There has been an increase in the number of volunteers who look after the ralsed beds
near thelr homes and other communlty groups have also become involved. At the Vlllage
Hall the Toddler Group have thelr own bed and this year they will be planting and growing
miniature sunflowers. A new venbjre last year was to plant our own hanging baskets that
were hung at various pjsitions along the High Street. Our Brownie Pack planted these and
they have agreed to do the same this year. However, this can now be done earlier as we
can protect the growing baskets in the new polytunnel.
Each year, Broughton in Bloom strives to improve its current provlsion and extend further
any new ideas and projects. The volunteers have Broughton's best Interests at heart and
work to promote pride in our surroundings.

upfront purchases without waiting for money to come in which reduced our overheads and
allowed us to give more money out to local causes and events. With the Income from both
events, we made donatlons to Alzhdmer's Research UK and gave money towards the
Astro project which is currently undeNay.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT
TO THE TRUSTEES OF BROUGHTON COMMUNITY AND SPORTS ASSOCIATIQN
I report on the accounts of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation for the period ended 31
De￿mber 2024 which are set out on pages 10 to 19.
Respective responsibilitles of trustees and examlner
The charity's trUSt￿S are responsible for tIE preparation of the accounts. The charltys trustees
consider that an aLKlit Is not required for thls year under section 144 of the tharities Att 2011 (the
Charltles Act) and that an independent examination is needed. As the Income of the tharity is above
£250,000 lfie independent examination is required to be done by a qualified accountant.
It is my responsibility to:
examlne the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act.
to follow the Pro(￿dureS laid down in the g￿eral Dlrectlons given by the Charty Commission
under section 145 (5)(b) of the Charities Act. and
to state whether particular matters have L￿rne to my attention.
Basis of independent exaiminerfs ￿pOrt
My exarnination was carried out in accordan￿ wlth the General Direttions given by the Charity
Cornmissioners. An examination Includes a review of tlie accounting ￿CordS kept by the Charity
and a comparfson of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of
any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as tNstees
Con￿rning any such matters. The prO￿dureS urKlertaken do not provide all the eviden￿ that
would be required in an audit, and consequently, no oiinion is given as to whether the accounts
present a 'true and fairf view and the report Is limited to those matters Set out In t.he statement
below.
Independent examlnerfs statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention
in connettion with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
the accounting re￿rdS were not kept in accordan￿ with section 130 of the Charities Act. or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records. or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements cOn￿rnIng the form and
content of acrounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other
than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter
considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concems and have come across no other Matters in connettion with the examination
to which attention should be drawn in this re￿rt in order to enable a proper understsndlng of
the ac￿Unts to be reached.
