To support principally the carers and families of those with dementia in Essex and the surrounding areas by providing peer group support, social activities, and raising awareness of the issues related to dementia and those who are indirectly affected by it.

Trustees kept in mind the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit when planning our activities for the year. As a matter of course, reference was made to our objectives to aid decision-making..The main activities of the year undertaken for public benefit were;
During the year the total attendances included 1991 carers and their loved ones with dementia. In total, 110 events were held. The small decreases in both measures were largely due to cessation of minibus trips due to large increases in hire and driver costs.
**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**
No charges were made for attending events this year, although beneficiaries contributed to the costs of materials and food and refreshments and those who could afford it paid an annual subscription of £24.
The impact of being a dementia carer is lifelong, and often, if the person with dementia enters residential care or dies, the carer suffers loneliness. The support and friendship networks facilitated by Other Halves remain available after these events.
Recognising the particular needs of those who are still home carers, a new group specifically for those people has been established. This group is responsible for ensuring that Other Halves are integrated with other carer support groups.
We would like to thank the following funders;
- Yapp Charitable Trust who have funded our regular lunch and activity sessions at the Millenium Centre, Gt Baddow
- The Older Peoples Research Trust
- Woodham Tai Chi Group
We would also like to thank our generous personal donors, including those who donate to our in memorium funds.

The charity is entirely supported by volunteers, although a small sum was paid to provide social media postings and for financial reporting, grant application and governance.
