Aim and purposes

The TJCC has the responsibility of co-operating with the UKGA and UKGA assigned preachers, Preacher Michael Chan, Steven Shek and Raymond Leacock in promoting the whole mission of the church.

Objectives and Activities

The Objectives of the charity are to advance the Christian faith for the benefit of the public in accordance with the statement of faith.

In particular, we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our church community through:

Achievements and Performance

Worship and Prayer

Before the Covid pandemic all were welcome to attend our regular services on Saturday from 11:30 to 15:30 at Park Street, Dry Drayton, Cambridge CB23 8DA. In addition, there was a prayer session at 11:30 on the first Saturday of each month, and on which day, there was an additional service at 14:30-15:30 after the main Sabbath service at 12:30-13:30. However, no service was held between March 2020 and July 2020. Restricted service resumed in Aug 2020 until the end of September 2020. There was no UKGA preacher visit in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.

Pastoral Care

Our volunteers routinely organised family visits to members that were not able to attend church service. In addition, our church organised additional visits on the Sundays when the UKGA preacher visited. We maintained regular Religious Education classes on Saturdays. During the Covid pandemic services were held online on Sabbath and weekly bible study and monthly fellowship were held online on Sunday. Religious Education classes were held online either on Saturday or Sunday.

Mission and Evangelism

No Evangelical event was held in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.

Financial Review

Total receipts on unrestricted fund were £3068 of which £163 was interest. Restricted donations received were £42991 and are detailed in the Financial Statements. Income from Gift Aid was £7932. £8388 was spent in the financial year including £2000 loan repayment to the UKGA.

The net result of the year was a surplus of receipts over payments of £37671. Adding bank and deposit balances brought forward at the beginning of the year, the balance carried forward at 1[st] October 2020 on unrestricted funds and restricted funds totalled £28460.

We thank the church volunteers to provide their homes for our routine and ad hoc services. We are grateful for the generosity of individual members and UK churches for their offerings and loans. In additions weekly food and drink and transport costs were met by volunteers to such an extent the expenditure of the church was kept to a minimal.

Structure, governance and management

The method of appointment of TJCC Trustees is set out in the TJC UK General Assembly By-Law. All members of congregation, subjected to conditions in the By-Law, could stand for election to become TJCC Trustees.

The Trustees are responsible for making decisions on all matters of general concern including deciding on how the funds of TJCC are to be spent. Important matters require the approval from more than 66% of the membership via vote at General Meetings.
