and beyond. The organisation focuses on supporting those in need by facilitating access to
education, training. and employment opportunities. Through these efforts, CREST aims to raise
aspirations within the community and ensure that all voices are heard and represented.
As a result of these objectives, CREST has implemented a range of projects that have not only
delivered meaningful outcomes for participants but have also demonstrated strong value for money
and significant social impact. The organisation remains committed to its mission of empowering
individuals and fostering a more inclusive society.
Achievements and Performance
As Chair of the Board, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude and admiration for the
outstanding dedication and hard work demonstrated by everyone involved during the April 2024 to
March 2025 financial year. The management, including both the board and leadership team,
together with all staff members, have continually worked to uphold the mission of the Compact for
Race Equality in South Tyneside (CREST). Throughout this period, CREST has consistently
delivered positive results, continuing a legacy of impactful achievements that began with its
founding. These accomplishments have had a tangible effect, making a meaningful difference In
the lives of many vulnerable Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities residing in
South Tyneside. The collective efforts of the board, leadership, and staff have ensured that the
organisation remains a source of support and empowerment for those most in need.
Reflections on the Past Year
Over the last year, CREST has experienced an exceptionally busy period marked by the initiation
of several new projects and the involvement of new funders. Throughout these developments, our
commitment to prioritising the needs, desires, and voices of our clients remained central to every
aspect of our work. As our team expanded, the scope and volume of our activities also increased,
allowing us to better serve our community. We are deeply grateful to the foundations and trusts thal
have supported us during this time, providing both core funding and small grants that have enabled
CREST to pursue and achieve its goals. Their generosity has been instrumental in sustaining our
mission and ensuring that our services remain available to those who need them most. Despite the
growing challenges posed by the rising cost of living which has had a considerable impact on our
beneficiaries, ability to access services and has affected their mental health the CREST team has
worked collaboratively and diligently. This teamwork has ensured the continuity of our services,
reaffirming our commitment to supporting the community through difficult times.

Some of my personal highlights from our charitable actlvilies within th8 year of 24125 included..
Charitable Activilies and Achievements in 2024125
Throughout the year, CREST remained steadfast in its commitment to delivering effective services through
the 'What's On. programme. This initiative consistently provided between 15 and 25 activities each week, not
including a range of additional events and drop-in sessions. These offerings wer8 specifically designed to
enhance the overall quality of life for individuals accessing our services.
CRESTS holistic and intersectional approach to support resulted in a significant increas8 in our social impact,
particularly for members of the BAME community. Our services prioritized a whole-person approach,
supporting individuals in progressing their lives and personal developm8nt.11 has been especially rewarding
to observe many service users improving their language and communication abilities, galning new skills and
training, and building confidence and self-esleem. Many have become happi8r, mor8 grounded individuals
with a strong8r sense of belonging, thanks to the quality training and support provid8d.
The organisation also made considerable progress In establishing effective partnerships and collaborative
relationships with a variety of organisations. These included Churches Together South Tyneside, Tyne &
Wear Museums, Northumbria Police, Ocean Road Mela Consortium, Whist, Macmillan, The Phoenix Way,
Mortimer Community Colleg8, The Customs House, Regional Refuge Forum, Northeast Refug8 Service,
Groundworks, South Tyneside Council, Marine Park Children Centre, Inspire South Tyneside, Menlal Health
Concern, Newcastle Building Society, the NHS, and others. These professional relationships greatly
contributed to enhancing the reach and impact of our work.
While the period of organisational growth and development following our succession plan presented
challenges, the dedication and fesilience of the team enabled CREST lo progress from strength to strength.
This resulted in the delivery of unique activities such as the Mela Festival and youth work initiatives. Now,
two decades on, the organisation continues lo make a meaningful impact in the communitl8S It serves, as
reflecled in the distinctive recognition and apprecialion received from b8neficiaries and stakeholders alike.
The success achi8v8d this year is a direct result of Ihe hard work and dedication of our team. Th8
extraordinary progress made would not have been possible without their energy, commitment, and
consistency in advancing our charitable aims and objectives. I would like to take this opportunity to personally
thank every team member for their invaluable contributions.
