In defining the above activities the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. ## Section D Achievements and performance ## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** The ministry of the Mathetes Trust falls into 3 parts: we support discipleship in Africa through our Rooted in Jesus programme; we provide support and mentoring for church leaders within the UK; we publish resource materials on key topics of Christian life and ministry. ## **1. Rooted in Jesus – a practical discipleship programme for Africa** During 2024 we were able to send teams to facilitate Rooted in Jesus leadership training conferences for the Dioceses of Maiwut, Gogrial, Tonj, Nyamlel and Kajo-Keji in South Sudan, for the Diocese of Northern Uganda and for the Dioceses of Antsiranana and Toamasina in Madagascar. We were also able to provide books and training material for use in Burundi, DR Congo, Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa We have continued to produce new translations of the Rooted in Jesus leaders’ booklets. This year saw further translations into Dinka Agaac, Nuer and Bari for South Sudan, Lingala and Lugbara for DR Congo, Lozi for Namibia and Northern Sotho for South Africa. ## **2. EQUIP – a support programme for church leaders in the UK** The Mathetes Trust EQUIP programme provides mentoring for Christians in the UK whose purpose is to preach the gospel at every opportunity, and so bring more and more people to faith in Christ. There are currently 53 people involved in the programme, the majority of whom are clergy: some Anglican, some Baptist. They meet in small groups three or four times a year, sometimes by Zoom but mostly face to face. Each meeting is supported by an EQUIP booklet which provides members with a library of ideas to help them achieve their aims. A recent booklet by Roger Morgan is called _The Work of a Parish Priest_ , and provides a set of 20 steps which we recommend should be taken by any church leader who is motivated by the Great Commission. **TAR** March **2012** 2 Section D Achievements and erformance p We provide ongoing support to each individual who is part of the programme, and each is also invited to take part in our Rooted in Jesus ministry in Africa. We are available for phone conversations as requested, and we visit each participant to provide ministry support. ## **3. Publications** We have continued to distribute our various books, booklets and course materials within the UK. We have produced digital editions of our Season of Renewal Lent Course Members’ booklet, of our Stay Evangelism booklet and of the Rooted in Jesus Introduction for Group Leaders. We continued to create booklets for members of our EQUIP groups during the year. These form the basis for the group meetings, and cover key issues of Christian life and ministry.
