Chalr's Foroword
Looking back it's quite amazing to see what we have achieved this year. Although th8 number of sites we worked on reduced from
30 to 14 we have engaged with 1535 people, an increase of neady 300 on last year.
A lot of effort has gone into improvements al Ihe March Street site. Thanks to granEs from Lancashire County Council and Shared
Prosperity we have been able to secure the lop end of our sile with fenung. improve pathways allowing wheelGhair access and
replace a larg8 number of the raised b8ds. Thanks must go lo Keith Turbitt (Tnjsteel, the Gardening Team, Paul, Rana, Arron and
Danny, not lo forget Ihe tremendous efforts made by all our volunteers. If you haven't had the opportunily to visit, please do so.
There's still work to be done including cov8rFng the poly-tunnels. which hopefully we manage to raise lunding for in the coming year.
Thanks to funding by Green Dreams Project the site at Nelson has continued lo provide food to local residen15, foodbanks and of
course our own kitchen5 where we have seen our volunteers leam and share cooking skills from various cullures. An apple day was
very well supported, If you can think of anything to do with an apple 'we dld it,.
As part of our Growing Minds Project wè have continued our work at local schools and nurseries, givlng children the opportunlty lo
dig. plant and harvest their own food.
Briercliffe Farm remalns an important area for us. throughout the year volunteers have been maintsining the meadow and foraging
hedge. We are very grateful lo Fanning in Protected Landscapes for their continued support. this year they have provlded funding for
2 Trampers, all terrain mobility scooters, allowing less able people to enjoy and leam about the countryside. Thanks must go to Paul
and his family for allowing us use of the land.
Thanks 8150 go to Helen, Fatima, Jak8ra and Razia Wofking hard in the background supportlng the Gardening Team and volunteers.
Over the last 12 months we have seen core funding opportunities lessen, as a result we have lost team members we were unable to
r8plac8, meaning more work being tsken on by the remaining staff and Tnjstees. Without this additional 8ffort opportunit18s for our
Volunt88rs would have diminished , il's a testimony lo everybody's dedicats'on that we havè Incr8ased our volunteer numbers. I would
like lo take this opportunity lo thank everybody involved al PLCF for their valuable o)ntribulion.
