Objeetives and Aetivities
Aims and Objectives
The objects of the BIPA ar¢ to protect and promote good health amongst people with mental illness or intellectual disability,
in particular those from the black and minority ethnic Communities, Thi5 is achieved by-.
Signifieant Aetivities
Executive team members- Dr Amar Sardana, Dr Anu Priya, Dr Ashok Jainer, Dr Baxi Neraj Prasad Sinha, Dr Bettshalasoor
Somashekar, Dr Nila Aganwal, Dr Prashanth Ampalam, Dr Prutha Desai, Dr Samir Shah and Dr Tina Malhoira.
BIPA membership hgs continued to grow to over 700. BIPA continues to work both in the UK and wider, and the
collaborations have been extremely helpful to shaTe knowledge and iiifortnation and ultiTnately help improve mental health
care to patients.
We had a very successful Conference in 2024, and the executive committee have been meeting regularly io discuss a develop
a number of initiatives, many of which have been hugely successful. Academic activities have increased hugely and we have
had a number of webinar% on a range of topic%, and our President has been instrnmentsl in organising these.
Our online presence has itnproved immensely, and special thank5 to Dr Vats Zapadia who has contributed with hi5 creative
and innovative ideas for administrative tasks.
We had a great represeiitation at Ancips January 2025 and RCPsych Internatioiial Congress June 2024 and BIPA members
Continue to have many leadership roles and be recognised fL)r many achievements formally and infonnally. In addition
rnany members were also part of the cultural events and this was received very positively. There were many oral and poster
presentations at both these events by BIPA members We have many published authors, people doing phenomenal w'ork in
areas outside p5ychiatti' includin¥ voluntary work, music, art5, SPOrt5 et¢.
We also have Inembers who have attended BAPIO events, other diaspora evenis and continue to support to help improve
experiences for everyone. li is important for us to have a voice that is heard as we are representing patienis, public and
¢i)Ileagues who come to UK from around the world and have unique abilities to make a positive diffcrence and redu¢e
inequalities.
The Executive Committee and Trustees have met a number of times, and our BIPA Trustees contii)ue to support and
encourage activities of the organisation. For the nexi year we would like to build on all ihe progress. learn and improve from
the feedback. We ivould like to increase our membership further and engage more doctors and spread awareness about
mental health.

I report io the tTUStees on my examination of the accounts of BRITISH INDIAN PSYCHIATRIC ASSOCIATION (the Trust)
for the yeor ended 31 March 2025.
Responsibilities and Basis of Report
As the charity trustees of the Tn15t }'ou are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements
of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act").
I repx)rt in respect of my examinaiion of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 201 l Act and in carrying out
my examination, I have folloived the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5Xb) of the
Act.
Independent Exarniner's Statement
I have completed Iny examination. I confim that no material matters have come to m> attention in conrtection with tl)e
examination giving Ine cause to believe that in any material respect..
l. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act,. or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the account5 do not comply with the applicable requireinents concerning the forn] and contents of accounts set out in

Commission. registered charity number 1169838. The principal gddress is Cash's Business Centre. 1st Floor, 228 Widdrington
Road, Coventry , CVI 4PB.
2. Aeeounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 102)"Accounting and
ReportinbF by Charitie5'. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities prepaTing their account5 ITi

Januar}. 2019)" Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland" and the Charities Act 2011.
The charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
2.2. Going Con¢¢rn Disc105ure
The trustees have not identified any tnaterial uncertaintie5 related to events or conditions that may cast 5i¥nificant doubt
about the charity's abilitv to continue as a going concern.
2.3. Fund Aeeounting
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discreiion of the trustees.
Designated funds comprise unrestricted ￿ndS that have been set aside by the trnstees for a specific purpose.
Restricted funds are to be used for specific purposes as laid down by the donor.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the finai)cial statements.
2.4. Incoming Resources
Income is recognized when the charitj has entitlement to the funds, any perfomiance conditions attached to the item(s}
of income have been met, it is probable that the income will be received, and the amount can be measured reliably.
2.5. Donated Goods and Services
Charity has made donations of go(Ids at)d services. It is valued at fair market value.
2.6. Inv￿lment Properties
All investment properties are carried at fair value determined annually and derived from the current markei rents and
investment property yields for comparable real estate, adjusted if necessary for anv difference in the nature, location or
condition of the specific asset. No depreciatioii is provided for. ChangFes in fair value are recognised in the statement of
financial activities.
2.7. Cash and Cash Equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents are basic financial gssets and include cash in hand and deposits held at call wilh banks, other
short-tenn hi(Thly liquid investments tliat niatiire in no more tlian three niontlis froTn the date of acquisition and are
readily convertible to a known amount of cash with it]si¥nifJcant risk of change in value, and bank overdrafts.
