DUNKS GREEN EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH

TRUSTEES' REPORT

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2022

Dunks Green Evangelical Free Church is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (No. 1169774) and was registered as a Charity on 19 October 2016.

The year 2022 began with thanksgiving for the Lord’s provision of finances and blessing in the life of Dunks Green Church from members and friends.

This was a different year with Chris no longer being with us. We give thanks to God for his faithfulness over these past 25 years and we all wished him well in his new life in Shropshire.

Objectives and activities

The objectives of the CIO have not wavered from the 2021 report. Our whole purpose in being at Dunks Green is to make Christ known to those around us, and advance the Christian faith, that in this life alone, can forgiveness be found through Jesus Christ, who gave His life as our substitute to take the wrath of God upon Himself to atone for our sin.

There is no other name under heaven whereby a man can be saved - and this we will continue to do, using the means and abilities that the Lord gives us.

Achievements and Performance

We gathered for worship and preaching the Word of God with a variety of speakers though out the year. The special yearly services for the church calendar were held, including the special time in celebrating the Queen’s 70-year Jubilee. A special book was produced, by Hope and Co. detailing the Queen’s faith, with photos, letters and prayers. 400 of these were distributed around the area, with a decorated inset card from the church.

It was agreed by members to change the old NIV bibles for the NKJV, which is closer to the original text. These are larger print and much easier to read.

Special community events

Church premises

A new roof has been given to the front porch of the church which was leaking. The appearance of the church has been much improved.

Structure, Governance and Management

This continues to be vested in the hands of three Trustees, elected by the Members of the Church.

The Trustees met on two occasions during the year.

Although a replacement for Chris Pateman has not been filled, we have been able, by God’s grace, to fill the Sunday services with visiting preachers. James Bacon, a member, has also been willing to preach.

Financial Review

Once again, the church funds have been amply provided for, by the gracious giving of the Lord’s people, for which we give God the glory. All the church commitments have been covered.

Due to the critical need of the Ukrainian people, the church requested to give an offering to the Medical Missionary News, a Christian medical charity, which gives medicine, supplies and doctors skills to many places in the world.

The total incoming resources for the year amounted to £6,504 (2021 - £17,411) and total resources expended amounted to £7,608 (2021 - £6,972). At the end of the year, cash and bank balances totalled £22,332 (2021 - £23,436).

Plans for the future

The Church continues to focus on its main objective to make known the Gospel, to preach and use all the means available, in order that the people of the village and area, would know come into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus, to gain eternal life. We will pursue this objective with God’s grace.

RISK REVIEW

The Trustees have conducted their own review of the major risks to which the Charity is exposed and systems have been established to mitigate those risks. The procedures are periodically reviewed to ensure that they still meet the needs of the Charity.

Charity Law requires the Trustees to prepare in respect of each financial year of the Charity a statement of accounts complying with such requirements as to its form and contents as may be prescribed by regulations made by the Secretary of State. In preparing those financial statements the Trustees are required to:

The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
