DUNKS GREEN EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH

TRUSTEES' REPORT

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021

Dunks Green Evangelical Free Church is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (No. 1169774) and was registered as a Charity on 19 October 2016.

The year 2021 began with thanksgiving for the Lord’s provision of finances and blessing in the life of Dunks Green Church from members and friends. We were also greatly encouraged by the gift of £6,220 from the Trustees of a church in Nutley which had recently closed. To God be the glory.

Objectives and activities

The objectives of the CIO have not wavered from the 2020 report. That we exist and labour to advance the Christian faith in Dunk’s Green, in accordance with the congregation’s Statement of Beliefs. That in this life alone can forgiveness be found through Jesus Christ, who gave His life on the cross, the only means to atone for man’s sin. Thus bringing man back into a living relationship with the Father to escape the judgment to come, bringing hope, joy and peace for eternal security.

The practical community activities have resumed again since health restrictions were lifted.

Achievements and Performance

The worship and the preaching of the Word of God continued though out the year, meeting as a congregation on Sunday and during the week. The special yearly services for the church calendar were also held.

Special community events:

Easter services were advertised and leaflets distributed.

A special Pentecost supper was held, and Mike Moore spoke to the many guests about the original meaning of Pentecost in the life of Israel and its fulfilment on the Day of Pentecost when the power of the Holy Spirit was given to the church, to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to witness to the world with power.

The church again opened for the Friends of Kent Churches Ride and Stride day, and Heritage Open Day. The theme was Edible England, which we used as a platform for displaying the Feasts of Israel, their meaning and their prophetic truths for us today. A model of the Tabernacle of Moses was displayed and the Temple of Solomon.

Remembrance Day was remembered, which included remembering those with whom the pandemic had affected.

The Christmas Carol Service was held, with Roger Lumley giving the word but also giving visitors a musical quiz of Christmas carols. This was greatly appreciated by visitors and congregation. A Christmas Eve midnight service was also held.

The fortnightly art group continues to meet. Ladies from the surrounding villages attend regularly. The monthly Sports evening has not yet reconvened.

The Church maintains an established website www.dunkschurch.org, and any enquiries regarding the church or questions regarding faith can receive help using the email epastor@dunkschurch.org.

Church premises:

A new roof has been given to the side entrance above the kitchen which has greatly improved the appearance and protected the building from the elements. The front porch repairs are also under discussion for repair.

Structure, Governance and Management

In accordance with the constitution of the CIO, governance is vested in the hands of three Trustees, elected by the Members of the Church in accordance with the Church constitution. The Trustees met on three occasions during the year.

DUNKS GREEN EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH

TRUSTEES' REPORT (CONTINUED)

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021

Chris Pateman, Minister, gave notice to the church of his retiring from the ministry and moving to the north of England sometime in the Autumn, which would leave the position of Minister vacant by the end of the year. He gave the church notice that he would remain a trustee for the foreseeable future.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Once again, the Lord provided for the Church’s expenses via the generosity of the congregation, but also the exceptional one-time donation of the Trustees of Nutley church.

The total incoming resources for the year amounted to £17,411 (2020 - £12,712) and total resources expended amounted to £6,972 (2020 - £7,248). At the end of the year, cash and bank balances totalled £23,436 (2020 - £12,997).

Plans for the future

Due to Chris Pateman leaving in the Autumn, the church gathered for meeting and prayer to seek the mind of the Lord. All the necessary practical issues were discussed and bank situations for new signatory were put in place.

A replacement for the right person to lead the congregation is uppermost in our prayers to the Lord. We have also been encouraged by three more believers to the chapel.

The Church continues to focus on its core objective which is to make known the path of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We will pursue this objective by continuing to preach the Gospel every Sunday, and by offering free Bibles and prayer to all who seek the truth.

RISK REVIEW

The Trustees have conducted their own review of the major risks to which the Charity is exposed and systems have been established to mitigate those risks. The procedures are periodically reviewed to ensure that they still meet the needs of the Charity.

Charity Law requires the Trustees to prepare in respect of each financial year of the Charity a statement of accounts complying with such requirements as to its form and contents as may be prescribed by regulations made by the Secretary of State. In preparing those financial statements the Trustees are required to:

The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
