## FRIENDS of STEYNING PARISH CHURCH 

(Charity No. 1169773) . Trustee’s Annual Report for Period 1. January 2021 to 31[st] December 2021. 

The objects of the Friends of Steyning Parish Church are to assist the Vicar, 

Churchwardens and PCC with the conservation, repair and improvement of the church, promote education about its history and purpose and develop its use by the wider community. The Covid pandemic has again curtailed our activities but a Zoom quiz, raising £421 and a Holly Fair combined with the launch of a book were held. 

The latter raised £650 and the book is still on sale. The book was entitled ‘I Remember’ and contained 2[nd] . World War memories and pictures from those with a connection to Steyning. Further income consisted of Standing Orders and a retiring collection (£613) at our AGM when a harp recital was given. The monies raised by the sale of our Church Guides goes directly to the PCC. 

The AGM was also an occasion to demonstrate the new lighting system in the church. This system has proved extremely successful and can be adjusted to suit individual church events and now illuminates several features of our ancient church often not previously visible. As indicated in last years report the Friends of SPC donated £35,000 to the lighting costs. At the years end our funds stand at £23,390.44. 

The trustees of the Friends remain as Fr. Mark Heather the Vicar, Chairman Jeremy Tomlinson, Secretary Liz Harries, Treasurer Don Harry, Publications Secretary Sarah Leigh and ex. Church Warden John Downe. The committee also includes Sally Barnard, membership secretary, Christine Aubrey and Tony Struthers, representing the PCC Project Management and Fund-Raising Group and Brian Sawyer and Carol Mitchell as music events

coordinators. Bill Thompson, a recently appointed church warden is in charge of publicity and marketing. 

Plans for changes to make the Church interior more adaptable for uses other than services are well underway. The Friends of SPC will be contributing to the costs involved. Donald Harry, Hon. Treasurer. July 2022.
