FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2023
The trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2023.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting Policies set out in note 1 to the
financial slalements and comply with the Charity's Constitution, the Charities Act 2011 and 'Accounting and
Reporting by Charities." Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Financial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021"
(effective 1 January 20191.
Objectives and activities
The objects of the charity are lo preserve and protect the mental health of parents particularly, but not exclusively, of
fathers. and to promote and protect the good health both physical and mental of children in the UK and overseas,
by, but not limited to..
advancing public understanding of the role of fathers in children's development, mental health and future
life chantss,
enhancing understsnding of how parents. particularly fathers, can be supported in their parenting, and
promoting the a¢quisilion of parental knowledge. capabilities and skills. particulady in fathers, that foster
compelenl, nurturing and equal parenting,. and
promoting research into influences on parents, particularfy on fathers, and parental influences on children.
and publishing the useful results.
Achievements and performance
The financial year 2023 has encountered challenges as the organisation continues lo try and reeslablish ils ground.
The Impact has beèn lo vastly slow fundraising efforts, however, the challenges have beèn responded lo and the
organisalion is in a stronger position.
Public benefit statement
As an agency our public benefits are varied. We ¥MII use our knowledge and experience lo help fathers themselves,
their families and those who work with them. Our theory of change represents our best understanding of how
engagement and leaming Can enable change as well as how progress towards outcomes might be measured.
In shaping our objectives for the future and planning our activities, the trustees have considered the Charity
Commission's guidance on public benefit, induding the guidance 'public benefit.. running a charity IPD21. The
trustees are satisfied that the activities of the charity will demonslrale the public benefit identified in the charity's
objects.
Financial review
The Stslemenl of Financial Activities showed nel deficit of £36,169 12022 - surplus of £46,912) for the year and
reseNes sland al £13.936 12022 £50.1051. The financial position al the year revealed by the Balance Sheet,
shows nel Current assets or working Capital of £13,93612022- £50,105).
Prlnclpal fundlng sources
We are seeking funding from charitsble trusts and foundations lo continue the work of the charity.
Investment powers and pollcy
The Board of Trustees have decided that at present, funds should be retained in Banks and Building Societies. Any
change in such banking arrangements should be agreed by the Board of Trustees. As far as possible. funds will be
retained in accounts bearing the best interest rates at that time.

Re5erve5 policy
We will require an appropriate level of reserves in order to operative effectively. The level will be sel with regard lo
our aims, needs and objectives and the risks we face, as we move forward with our key organisalional goals.
At 31 December 2023 accounts showed reserves of £13,93612022 - £50,105). of which £13,76712022 - £50,000)
was restricted and £169 12022 £1051 was unrestri¢ted. Unrestricted ftjnds not designated or invested in tangible
fixed assets held by the charity are £16912022.. £1051. The Board of Trustees consider this level adequate for the
current period, as we have no ongoing unrestricted expenditure, and will consider and review these levels as
funding is secured and as the charity develops.
Plans for future periods
The organisalion has number of grant application with major funders that ale currendy being reviewed that would
bring great opportunities. There are a number of organisalions seeking lo work with the Foundation in partnership lo
promote fatherhood in the coming year and the foundation aims to resel some of the landmarks previously allained
as it searches for rts new space in a changing landscape. In the interim period. the foundation will be tsking
measures to reduce costs.
Structure. governan¢e and management
Governing document
The Fathers, Development Foundation is a Charitable Incorporated Organisalion ICIOI registered on 13 October
2016,. Charity registration number 1169657. The liability of the members is limited lo such amount Ibul no more than
£101 as may be required for payment of the debts and liabilities of the CIO conlraded before that person or
organisalion ceases to be a member, for payment of the costs, charges and expenses of wnding up, and for
adjustment of the rights of the conlribuling members among themselves
Recruitment and appointment of Trustees
New trustees will be elected by existing trustees lo address key areas and skill gaps identified. Trustee posts will be
advertised through an open process. Under the requirements of the Conslilulion one third of Trustees must retire by
rolalion every year and are eligible lo pul themselves forward for reappoinlmenl that same year. The Trustees in
office in the year are set out on page legal and administration page. The trustees are also members of the charity.
The trustees have no beneficial interest in the company other than as rnembers. The Board has unlimited
investment powers
Trustee induction and training
All new Board of Trustee members re￿1ve an induction on joining the Board.
Oryanisation
The govemance of the charity is undertaken by a Board of Trustees that meets quarterly and is responsible for
overseeing the strategic direction and resulting policy of the charity. The Board members bring expertise from a
variety of professional backgrounds and have access lo advice on the progress of the work. The Trustees mel
during the year lo monitor progress in establishing the work of the charity, oversee financial and risk management
and measure progress in development of the membership and ils associated work. The Board's governance is
supported by an Advisory Panel, APPG and the wider membership.
The role of Director remains vacant until such time as we have funding secured.

Statement of Trustees, responslbllltles
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the financial statements in accordance with
applicable law and United Kingdom Accounb'ng Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting
Practice).
The law applicable lo charities in England Wales requires the Iruslees to prepare financial slalements for each
financial year which give a true and fair view of the slate of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and
application of resources of the charity for that year.
In preparing these financial ststements, the trustees are required to..
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.,
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP,.
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.,
slate whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures
disclosed and explained in the financial stalefflenls, and
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless il is inappropriate to presume that the
charity wll continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping sufficient accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any
time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply ￿rith the
Charities Act 2011, the Charity IAccounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They
are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hen￿ for tsking reasonable steps for the
prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The trustees are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the charity and the financial information included
on the charity's website accordance with legislation in the United Kingdom goveming the preparation and
dissemination of financial slatemenls.

Your attention is drawn to the fact that the charity has prepared financial statements in accordance with Accounting
and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable
in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 in preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement
of Recommended Practice issued on 1 April 2005 which is referred to in the extant regulations bul has now been
withdrawn.

Accounting policies
1.1 Accountlny conventlon
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charity's Constitution, the Charities Act
2011, FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. I'FRS 102.1
and the Charities SORP 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Slalement of Recommended Practice
applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance wth the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021" (effective 1 January 20191. The Charity is a Public
Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The financial slalements have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to
the exlenl requirèd to provide a tru& and fair view. This departure has involved following the Statement of
Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Statement of
Recommended Practi￿ which is referred lo in the Regulations but which has since been withdrawn.
The financial slalements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the Charity. Monetary
amounts in these financial stslemenls are rounded lo the nearest £.
The financial slalements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The principal accounting
policies adopted are sel out below.
1.2 Going concem
The charity's Financial Statements show net deficit of £36,16912022.' surplus of £46,912) for the year and free
reserves of £16912022.. £1051. With regard to planned acb'vits'es the trustees are of the view that these results
have secured the immediate future of the charity for the next 12 to 18 months and on this basis the charity is a
going concern
1.3 Charltable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of their charitable
objectives.
Reslricled funds are subject lo specific Conditions by donors as to how they may be used. The purposes and
uses of the restricted funds are sel out in the notes to the financial slatemenls.
1.4 Income
Income is recognised when the charity has entillemenl to the knnds, any performance conditions attached to
the Ilemlsl of income have been met, It is probable that the Income will be received and amount can be
measured reliably.
Income received by way of donations and legacies is included in full in the Slalemenl of Financial
Activities when re¢eived, unless they relate lo a specified future period, in which ¢ase they are
deferred.
Legacies enlillemenl is taken as the earlier of the dale on which either.. the charity is aware that the
probate has been granted, the estate has been Iinalised and notrficalion has been made by the
execulorlsl lo the charity that the distribution is made, or when a distribution is received from the
estate. No legacies were received during the year.
Income from charitable activities received by way of revenue grants and donations are credited lo
reslri¢led incoming resources on the eadier dale of when they are received or when they are
receivable, unless they relate to a specffied future period, in which case they are deferred.
Grants and donations of general nature which are not conditional on delivering certain levels of
service are included as part of grants, donations and legacies. Performance related grants and
dDnalions which have conditions for a specific outcome are include as Income from Charitable
Athvities Inone In the period).

1.5 Expendltu
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a
third paty, il is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in selllemenl, and the amount of
the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure is classified by activity. The c051s of each activity are made up of the lolal of direct cost5 and
shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct costs attributable lo a single
activity are allocated dire¢lly lo that activity. Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity and
support costs which are not attributable lo a single activity are apportioned between those activities on a basis
consistent with the use of resources. Central staff costs are allocated on the basis of time spent, and
depreciation charges are allocated on the portion of the asset's use.
Allocation of support costs
Support costs relate lo those functions that assist the work of the charity bul do not directly undertake
charitsble activities. Support costs include back office costs, finance and adminislralion, and govemance
costs which support the charity's programmes and aclivilies.
The Charity initially identifies the costs of ils support functions. It then identifies those costs which relate lo the
governance function. Governance costs and other support costs are apportioned separately be￿een charity's
key activity undertaken in the year. All the general support and governan￿ Costs have been apportioned ID
the charitable activities on the basis of direct costs allocated lo each activity.
1.6 Cash and cash equlvalents
Cash and cash equivalents indude cash in hand, deposits held at call wth banks, other short-term liquid
investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
thin borrowngs in current Iiabililies.
1.7 Financial instruments
The charty has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial Instruments, and Section 12
'Olher Financial Instruments Issues, of FRS 102 to all of ils financial instruments. Financial instruments are
recognised in the charity's balance sheet when the charity becomes party lo the contractual provisions of the
inslrumenl. Financial assets and liabilities are offset. with the net amounts presented in the financial
statements. when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an
intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.
1.8 Taxallon
The charity is a registered charity and, therefore, is not liable for Income Tax or Corporation Tax on income
derived from its charitable aclivilies, as it falls within the various exemptions available to registered charities.
1.9 Creditors and provisions
Creditors and provisions are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event
that will probably result in the transfer of funds lo a third party and the amount due lo settle the obligation can
be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and provisions are nomially recognised al their settlement
amount after allowing lor any trade discounts due.

1.10 Volunteers and donated servlces and facllltles
Donated professional services and donated facilities are recognised as income when the charity has control
over the item. any conditions associated with the donated item have been mel. the receipt of economic benefit
from the use by the charity of the item is probable and that economic benefit can be measured reliably. In
accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021, time contributed by volunteers is not recognised. There were
no volunteer contributions lolher than Trustees) during the year.
On receipt, donated professional services and donated facilities are recognised on the basis of the value of
the gift lo the charity which is the amount the charity would have been willing lo pay lo obtsin services or
facilities of equivalent economic benefit on the open market., a corresponding amount is then recognised in
expenditure in the period of receipt. No such donations were received during the year.
1.11 Cash flow statement
The charity qualifies as a small charity and advantsge has been taken of the exemption provided by Charity
SORP IFRS 1021, not lo prepare a cash flow 51alemenl.
Critical accounting estimates and judgements
In the application of the Charity's accounting policies, the Iruslees are required to rnake judgernenls,
eslimales and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and Iiabililies that are not readily appaienl
from other sources. The eslimales and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other
factors that are considered lo be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting
estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that
period, or in the period of the revision and fjjture periods where the revision affects both current and future
periods.
