The foodbank is managed by unpaid volunteers and supported both financially and physically by members of the local community. The Trustees are also unpaid volunteers.
We are licensed to the Trussel Trust who support both operational requirements and provide financial support. It is the view of the Trustees that the foodbank should continue to operate within this licence.
We continued to operate during the pandemic using 4 volunteers to deliver parcels to the doorsteps of the recipients. However we could not open the church hall for collection or allow the CAB to continue with the service due to restrictions. The local community including 3 supermarkets and several independent shops continued to support us. Members of the public have also been supportive with financial donations and supplies.
We have increased the number of emergency boxes in the community thus enabling the boxes to be distributed in a timely manner.
We currently have two large storage units one based at our head office site (Boundary Road) and the other in Cadishead which was loaned to us by a local engineering company. We have ordered one more storage unit which was to be based at Boundary Road. However our lease expires in June 2022 and we are currently looking for new premises, hopefully this will be secured by late spring 2022. The new unit and existing unit at Boundary Road will be relocated to the new premises.
We are actively recruiting new volunteers in order to establish a larger team and reduce the burden on the volunteers currently working each week. We hope to recruit a diverse range of people who offer varied skills to enhance our foodbank operation.
